When I turn the switch on, ti-89 titanium does not turn on.

I have used my ti-89 titanium for some years.
As the screen becomes dark, I thought that the batteries are low.

After installing the new four alkaline batteries and new Lithium battery in ti-89 titanium, I press the key: "ON", but the display of ti-89 titanium is still dark. I cannot read nothing from the display of ti-89 titanium.

By holding down the key (diamond symbol inside a green border) and momentarily pressing the minus key, I cannot adjust the display and contrast. I cannot read nothing from the display of ti-89 titanium.

If you connect calculator to computer using Ti connect device explorer you might be able to see what files are on the calculator. I don't know if you downloaded from the web but, 3rd party programs and shells tent to miss up the calculator. This would able you to delete out possible problems which could be re installed later.

If it is that bad and a solution isn't around the corner then reset is an option.
With the calculator on, hit the [2nd], [6],[F1] [3],[ENTER] should reset your calculator. Hopefully if it was bad programming that caused your problem, this might solve it.

How do I transfer Gameboy ROMs to my TI-89 Titanium?

Question edited for Capitalization.

I would have said it was impossible, because the TI-89 is a Graphing Calculator, but these videos seem to think is is possible. I would have thought Game files were indeed an incompatible format for a calculator.

The screen on my TI-89 Titanium turned blue after replacing batteries? How do I fix this? It turns on and off but does not respond to any other buttons.

If you cannot see anything on the screen, you may need to adjust the graphing TI 89 Titanium calculator contrast :

1.To darken the screen, press and release 2nd key, and then press and hold up-arrow key until the display is sufficiently dark.

2. To lighten the screen, press and release 2nd key, and then press and hold down-arrow key until the display is sufficiently light.

I cant really read some of the options on the screen on my ti 89....the letters are so blurry......what can i do ?????

Hey shrestha,

I've never seen a calculator with display clarity problems.

The only option I could think to offer you is to attempt to adjust the contrast. However, I'm not sure whether or not your TI-89 actually has an option to change the contrast. Because I own a TI-89 Titanium - and although its a wonderful calculator - it does not allow the user to alter the darkness/brightness of the display.

My TI-89 Titanium's screen froze. Well actually, the cursor kept blinking but none of the buttons worked. I got it to restart using the (-) and ) button trick, but rather than going back to normal it went...

Hi kelsers,

You need to re-install your calculator's OS. After this process your Ti 89 Titanium will operate properly. If you do the process below make sure you use new batteries.

Warning!!! If you do this procedure make sure that your computer and, calculator are connect. Use Ti Connect software and, make sure you can install the OS on the calculator without any interruption. At any time even at the very beginning of this process, if your computer or, calculator gets interrupted or you have a power failure during the installation of the OS, your calculator will be destroyed. So not attempt this procedure during a thunder storm.

You can use the Ti OS Downloader but, you will have no idea what OS is stored by the Ti OS Downloader. So, I suggest following my instructions and, installing the newest Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v.

Procedure to installing the newest Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v.

You can also get the latest copy of Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v by going to the Texas Instruments web site. You can get to that site instantly by clicking, "Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v." Once your at the Ti site click the Download Item, Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v. Next you can login or, click "continue as guest". I'd would click the "continue as guest". Once you have click, "continue as guest" the Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v. will download to you. Click, "SAVE". And then a folder will pop up. It is probably a folder that you download too. If so, you may want to change it and, "Save as" to this folder, "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads". You can also go back and, download the Ti 89 Titanium guidebook too, if needed.

Link your computer and calculator with the USB cable or, Direct Black Link cable that came with the calculator.

Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [APPS] key, and while holding the [APPS] key, replace the battery and turn the unit on. On the older TI-89 you should see "Press I to install code...", and you should press the [9] key to continue. But, on your Ti 89 titanium it should say, "Waiting to receive..." or, "Waiting to received OS...". Now you need to follow the instructions in the paragraph below to restore the calculator's operating system.

Next, drag the Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.10v. that you copied earlier to "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads" out of that folder and, drop it in the "Ti Connect" icon on the desktop. Next the OS Downloader Warning will pop-up. Click, "OK" to continue and, the new OS will begin to install. The Ti Device window should pop up and, click on to the port where your Ti 89 Titanium is located, USB1 cable or Direct Black COM1. Just click, "Select" and, the OS will continue to download. Upon completion the newest Ti 89 Titanium OS 3.01v. will be installed.

My TI-89 Titanium will not power on no matter if i change the batteries or press any buttons, any ideas?

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and hold the diamond key. Press and hold the + key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If this doesn't do it, please respond to this post and we can go on from there.

My TI-89 Titanium won't turn on!

A hard reset will clear all memory and should give you back control of the calculator.

1. Put the batteries in the calculator.

2. Press and hold left arrow, right arrow, and 2nd keys.

3. Press and release ON.

The only option or keys that will work is the ENTER key and the arrow keys. Try to get your arrow key to work by arrowing down and hit enter hopefully change you to something different.
Next, if at all possible can you hit the MODE key or get into the mode. If you get into the MODE select F3 and then arrow down twice or all the way to the bottom and at APPS Desktop select 1:OFF and then hit the ENTER key. Next, What I really think you need to do is reinstall the Ti 89 OS software. To do so you would need to connect to your computer or another Ti 89 Titanium to your Ti 89 Titanium. If you have Ti connect computer software (from the Ti site) connected to your Ti 89 Titanium it might help you more in troubleshooting any further problems too. You might be able to delete corrupt files that would free your calculator up and start running better.

TI-89 Won't Turn On

Please don't get your hopes up, but perhaps something in the following few suggestions will work:

For the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Family, and Voyage™ 200:
  1. Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the Diamond Key key followed by pressing and releasing the [+] key; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the [-] key.
  2. Users of the TI-89 Titanium or Voyage 200 should see the following case before performing the following reset procedure to prevent the loss of valuable Apps.
On the TI-92 family or Voyage 200, hold the [2nd] key and the [hand] key, then press and release the [on] key. On the TI-89 family, press and hold the [2nd] key, left arrow, and right arrow; then press and release the [on] key. This should reinitialize the operating system, in which you should see a progress bar filling on the screen.
  3. Remove one of the AAA or AA batteries. Press and hold the [APPS] key, and while holding the [APPS] key, replace the battery and turn the unit on. TI-89, 92 Plus, or Voyage 200 users should see "Press I to install code...", and should press the [9] key. The calculator should then say, "Waiting to receive...". TI-89 Titanium users should see "Waiting to receive..." or "Waiting to received OS...". You will need to restore the calculator's operating system.
To reinstall the Calculator's operating system, take a look at the following TI site.

http://epsstore.ti.com/OA_HTML/csksxvm.jsp?nSetNumber=12089

I would hunt around on the TI knowledge base to see if there are some more useful suggestions if nothing above works. If I find any more info that could be useful I will post it.
