these are hard to do. it needs to bend the tabs and pull out staples, then remove links and bend back, these are a pain in the ****. can be done by experanced guy. i can do them 10-15 dollars
mcdevito75 here, Removeing the tiny pins to remove links is fairly easy, replaceing them is the hard part, for this you"d need a Link remover tool, Best Bet is to look for a small watch repair shop in your area, the $10--15.00 cost will equal your Time, effort and tool you"d need. Don"t forget to hold onto the links removed from the band in case you need them again.
With the watch on your wrist, check to see how many links need to be removed from your watch. Your watch should fit comfortably on your wrist. Remove the extra links with your paper clip or push pin.To remove the links from your watch, press on the small pins with your tool that are holding the links in place. The watch band should now separate allowing the pin to become free, and you can now remove the pins first and then the links one at a time until you have removed the desired amount of links. Reattach the watch band when you are done removing the links. To reattach the watch band to your watch, simply fit the end links into each other. To complete the resizing, use your push pin to re-insert a joining pin.
it's not much harder then normal push pins, just a little trick..push the pin out, doesn't matter which way. You will probably have to pull it out with pliers once you get it started.
once that pin is out, the band still won't come apart. There is another pin, a tube actually that the other pin went thru. it connects the center links. to remove it, you have to first remove the outer links. to do this you push them inwards, toward where your wrist would be if you were wearing it. (the links are actually two pieces-the center 'snake-skin' piece, and the outer bars. the outer bars are connected behind the center piece) the outer bars are what you push inward, they will pop out once the first pin is out.
Now you will just have the center piece connected to the adjacent center piece. That second pin (the tube) will just about fall out if you turn the band on its side. Now the bracelet will come apart.
To put back together, just line up the to center pieces, slide in the tube, then put the outer links in from behind the center piece (this actually locks the tube in place) then put in the long pin.
Ideally it will slide in halfway easily, then carefully tack it in fully. if it doesn't get in halfway jiggle the links and tap lightly. Don't use too much force until it's past 2/3 inserted or you will bend the pin.
If you look carefully on the inner side of expandable bands, there's usually the removable links of the band near one or both ends of the band. These usually have arrows indicating which direction the locking pin/tab slides to unlock and allow removal. If you're careful, you can unlock them and remove one or two by using a small screwdriver. A very inexpensive alternative is to find a local watch repair shop and have them resize if for you while you wait. They've got the mini-tools and it's usually very reasonable (around here, there's a couple chain grocery stores that have watch repair kiosks inside..great alternative and cheap).
