I recently rebuilt my transmission (4r70w) (01), starts out strong, but looses power , slipping. Turn off the truck let it set about a minute, then takes off again for a few blocks.
Transmission wants to work, but doesn't have the power to go. Could I have not got the wire bridge inside connected all the way?
I went in reconnected the wire bridge, speed sensor code went away, but now NO forward or reverse movement at all. So frustrated at this point, just going to look for another truck.I went in reconnected the wire bridge, speed sensor code went away, but now NO forward or reverse movement at all. If the vehicle has more than 90,000 miles on it the transmission should be rebuilt. Chevy used the 4l60E transmission in Suburbans and it is not quite strong enough.A good rebuild will change all clutchs and plates along with the sun gear and cage. Also all electronic modules.I had mine rebuilt at 125,000 and afterwards pu an additional 200,000 on it without any slippage.
#1) Low or dirty transmission fluid #2) Wire/circuit issue shorted to power or ground #3) Failed torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid #4) Failed TCC assembly in the torque converter.....
Since Transmission has been rebuilt I would strongly suspect the TCC solenoid and/or its wiring...When transmission was rebuilt did the TCC get replaced? If so, due to being intermittent, Check the TCC plug (both female and male) for bent or dirty contacts...also insure you have close to zero ohms of resistance from negative battery post to transmission case...A poor ground will cause a problem and be at times...saailer
no tune up needed until 100000 miles. run a couple of fillups of Shell or Chevron premium gas thru it to clean out fuel system and clean engine. Walmart fuel station also have gas additive you can buy with your gas.
hmm.. well a cold shift issue ....remember heat expands all things so most likley there was an error with your repair i would take it back to who serviced it asap before your warranty runs out....good luck
This is a hard question to answer without more information. If the vehicle has a sensation of slipping it is usally the automatic transmission that is at fault and it probably has to be rebuilt. The sensation of power loss could be from the slipping transmission. Try manually downshifting the trans. to a lower gear when going up a hill and see what happens. That can tell you if the problem is the trans, or the engine,
there are a few things to do b4 getting new tranny. i would first think of when the last time it was serviced was,if more than 2 or 3 years or 25000 miles since then have it serviced first for a few hundred dollars if you pay someone or about 65 if you do it.just change the filter and pan gasket and refill with appropriate fliud and amount.keep in mind this is only if you havnt drove it much since it started slipping...if it has slipped for more than a few days get a used or new one or have that rebuilt.
what is the (revolutions per minute) rpm of your engine when the torque converter engages, was the torque converter rebuilt too? what type torque converter is in the ford ie low stall where it engages the gear box at around 900 to 1000 rpm. has there been any power band adjustment by the company that rebuilt your automatic transmission after the insallation.
