The reasons why a flex machine carriage stops moving during printing can vary, and the specific movement error message will depend on the make and model of the machine. However, here are some common causes and potential explanations for a carriage movement error:
1. Obstruction or jam: If there is an obstruction or a paper jam within the printer's path, it can prevent the carriage from moving smoothly. This can trigger a movement error, indicating that the carriage movement is obstructed or impeded.
2. Mechanical issue: There might be a mechanical problem within the printer, such as a malfunctioning carriage motor, a broken belt, or misalignment of the carriage assembly. These issues can cause the carriage movement to halt and trigger a corresponding error message.
3. Sensor malfunction: Modern printers often have various sensors that monitor the movement and position of the carriage. If one of these sensors malfunctions or fails to detect the proper movement, it can trigger a movement error.
4. Connectivity or communication problem: The printer relies on a proper connection and communication between the computer or the print server and the printer itself. If there is a connectivity issue or a breakdown in communication, it can result in a movement error and cause the carriage to stop moving during printing.
5. Software or firmware issue: In some cases, a software or firmware glitch can disrupt the normal operation of the printer, including the movement of the carriage. An outdated or corrupted printer driver or firmware can lead to movement errors.
To troubleshoot the issue and determine the specific cause, you can try the following steps:
1. Check for any visible obstructions or paper jams within the printer's path. Clear any blockages if found.
2. Power off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then power it back on. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve temporary errors.
3. Ensure that the printer's firmware and printer drivers are up to date. Visit the manufacturer's website to download the latest updates if available.
4. Check the connectivity between the printer and the computer or print server. Ensure that the cables are securely connected and try printing from a different device or port if possible.
5. Consult the printer's user manual or contact the manufacturer's support for specific troubleshooting steps related to your printer model. They can provide guidance on addressing movement errors and resolving carriage-related issues.
If the problem persists despite these troubleshooting attempts, it is recommended to reach out to the manufacturer's support or consult a professional printer technician for further assistance.

How do i solve the cr motor problem of epson L110 printer?

CR motor is the carriage motor that moves the printhead side to side. ( as opposed to the PF motor that feeds the paper)

normally if you are have CR motor issues it is because of a piece of paper caught in the mechanism or a dirty or dry carriage rail.

move the carriage from side to side and see if you get a full range of movement. where is stops is where the paper is caught

to clean the carriage rail,
then just wipe all the old sticky grease and oil off the carriage rail and apply new lubricant.. epson have a special grease for their techs to use, but WD40 or silicone spray will work just fine.
tip

Epson Stylus Pro 3880

ERROR CODES CAUSES AND SOLUTION
1101
CR life error The CR scan path counter has reached a predetermined level.
(The end of life of the Ink Supply Tube)
Replace the Ink Supply Tube (INK, SYSTEM, ASSY) and reset the counter using the Adjustment Program. In addition, check the statuses of the CR motor (MOTOR ASSY.,
CR), the driven pulley, the Carriage Unit, and the Head FFC, if any abnormal noise or wear is found, replace the corresponding part(s) along with the Ink Supply Tube.1120
CR lock error The CR encoder failed to read the CR scale during a predetermined time period. Replace the CR encoder (BOARD ASSY., ENCODER, CR).
Replace the CR scale (SCALE, CR).The carriage unit does not operate due to a CR motor failure or some reasons. Move the carriage unit manually to check if it moves smoothly, and fix any abnormality.
Replace the CR motor (MOTOR ASSY., CR).1121
CR reverse error An abnormal operation (reveres movement) of the carriage was detected a predetermined number of times. Check the CR scale (SCALE, CR) for incorrect attachment, scratch, dirt, and fix any abnormality. Replace the CR scale (SCALE, CR).Replace the CR encoder (BOARD ASSY., ENCODER, CR).

I am Eric, I have this error message on my epson stylus pro 9600, SERVICE REQ. 00010004

Hi,

Service Request errors in the range 00010004 - 000101D are related to a carriage movement problem. In some instances like paper jams, the carriage locking tab may be partially pushed in, causing the carriage locking mechanism to put a drag on the carriage or lock the carriage completely. This will cause a carriage error. Make sure the carriage locking tab is pulled to the left. Then turn the printer's power off and release the carriage by pushing down on the cutter blade. Slide the carriage to the left and look for any paper that also may be restricting the carriage from moving freely.

Error 03130031 - 2F13

Error 03130031-2F13
1. Check for abnormal carriage drive load

a. Faulty carriage idler pulley (broken spring hook, dropped belt teeth)
b. Faulty linear encoder sensor
( soiled or flawed linear encoder, or improper mounting position / tension )
c. Soiled carriage rail ( unlock the purge unit and move it by hand)
* Never oil the carriage rail!!!
d. Improper carriage belt tension
e. Foreign matter inside the rail (cutter, cleaning brush, bearing out of position)

2. Check carriage motor drive at electrical fault

a. Drive signal / voltage error
Check main controller J3101-1 for 32v during initial operation at start up
b. Upgrade firmware if it is v1.31 or any earlier release
c. Poor connector contact / wiring
d. Faulty motor (replace the carriage motor and / or the main controller )

If the error occurs before the start of printing, the main controller is most likely faulty.

The problem is reported to have occurred as a result of a faulty cutter, depending on the version of firmware.

or>>>>>>>>>
If Replacing the Print head does not resolve the problem. Try re-seating the Flex Cable, cleaning the Linear Scale and the Carriage Rail may clear the code.

Bushings in Carriage Unit get lubricated in the factory.
* Never oil the carriage rail!!!

Epson Artisan 800 continually indicating paper jam error--No jam.

Yes, that fixed the problem on my Artisan 800! Thanks so much for the info about slipping the cr scale back onto the u-guide on the back of the print head carriage, Larry P and dabaker!

For those trying this, the u clip is upside down so, from the front of the printer, you move the CR scale ribbon down a little and in towards you gently, in from the back towards the lower part of the rear of the print head assembly, and it will slip in on the top part of the ribbon into the u shaped groove (which, to be technical, looks more like an n-shaped groove, an upside down u). If it is loose and not clipped in, the CR scale ribbon will bow out easily on both sides of the print head carraige when lightly pressed towards the back of the printer near either side of the print head. (As pointed out in the service manual, do not touch the ribbon with your fingers, particularly if they may be greasy/greasty/gritty; use a clean tool for this-I used a q-tip which worked well for both testing the tension and for pushing it down and back into the proper guide slot.) If the CR scale ribbon is clipped in properly to the print head (properly seated in the n-shaped slot), it will bow towards the back of printer easily ONLY on the side that your press it from (ie left or right) but not on the opposite side of the carriage; the opposite side will remain almost entirely flush to the rear of the print assembly. Remember to press gently; you do not want to stretch or damage this scale ribbon if you can help it. If you have a small dental mirror and good light, you will be able to see the n-shapped clip (it's plastic and black on my 800 clearly. If the ribbon is correctly seated, it will be in the slot at the top and free at the bottom. Because of the use of u-slot in the previous posts, I was confused as to where to fit this in but then figured, nothing to lose and yep, it's actually the n-shaped slot at the top.

Give me solutation of errore 36 came inb DCP165C Brother Printer

Hi,

That error 36 - means "Head/carriage unit travel error" , if the printer is still under warranty, have it serviced. But if its out of warranty try to find any obstacles on the travel path of the head/carriage unit. If you cant find anything, it only means you need to replace some parts.

1. carriage PCB
2. head/carriage unit
3. CR encoder strip
4. carriage motor
5. main PCB
6. power supply PCB
7. maintenance unit
