It was leaking in the front so I figured it's a gasket issue. I pulled the bottom gasket, it looks fine so I cleaned it and put it back in. However, it leaked again so I pulled the cover off the door and I can see internal light coming through so clearly it's not sealed. I flipped the gasket, thinking I may have installed it incorrectly, but I had the same result.
The light is coming from the sides and four little grooves where the bottom meets the door-why are these here? It's preventing a seal. I think I can stretch the gasket a bit to cover the sides but I have no clue about the grooves. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm having the same issue. I had to replace my front cover and I forgot to put in the thermostat. (Wasn't leaking at all). So then I decided to put it back in so I took off the housing and replaced the gasket and put in the thermostat. Now it leaks like no other. I have taken it off several times looking at it and I can't seem to figure it out. I have tried thermostat then gasket and other way around. I tried putting the spring part on the thermostat towards me and then away. Nothing is working. If you have figured it out let me know.
This is a very common problem with the LG front loaders, and some other front loaders for that manner. There was a few recalls on them and some parts that were supposed to fix the issue. Even if the gasket looks ok i would replace it, as they have updated the design of the gaskets to fix issues on models that were having issues leaking. Most of the time its just a bad gasket and you cant really do anything other then replace it. Front load washers are about the worst appliance made today in my opinion, the repair shops around here are always full of broken and leaking front loaders. I have fixed quite a few myself, some work ok after the repair, some fail again in a matter of months, its a real duck shoot on them. The biggest failure rate though is the gaskets! And most of the time they look ok but still leak like a screen door.
Hi, There often is a heating strip that runs inside there that keeps a bit of warmth there so that condensation does not form.... The heat strip is bad ans as far as I know it is not replaceable...
If you've had the rubber hose in the bottom left panel out to drain, it may have become separated from being pulled out too far and is leaking. Normally you would see some water in the tray if you have one installed under the washer. Also check the front of the washer below the door for signs of water running down from the opening. There may be a gasket or water flow issue from the outlet at the top of the gasket.
The bottom half should bolt to top half. After screws are removed, then you should be able to pull the bottom off and look for cracks, holes, or a bad gasket. You can always use silicone and seal it yourself
If you have an automatic trans there should be a metal plate just after the rear seal of the motor. If you can remove the shield and see rust, good. If it has red oil, bad, its the trans. You will be able to see if the rear main of the engine is leaking by the oil on the torque converter and flywheel. You may just need to gently tighten the pan bolts which may loosen by themselves.
check around and under the rubber front gasket for any trapped items, if flooding happens open the bottom access panel (3 screws on bottom front) and look for leakage at that time , there is a access door safety switch to the top right that has to be closed to let the unit run. blow some powder in the bottom to show the wet spots and/or to trace when they happen again.
