I have a Sanyo Xacti 10 MP that records with date and time but when I put the SD card in my Apple laptop and download the videos, the date and time seems to not stay on the videos.

Please let me know how to keep the date and time on the downloaded videos?

The date and time information may not be embedded in the video file itself, but rather in the metadata of the file. When you transfer the video from your camera to your computer, the metadata may not be transferred along with the video.
To preserve the date and time information on your downloaded videos, you can try the following:

  1. Use a video player that displays metadata: Some media players, such as VLC media player, allow you to view the metadata of a video file. If the metadata contains the date and time information, you may be able to view it using such a player.
  2. Transfer the video using a program that preserves metadata: Some file transfer programs, such as Image Capture on Mac, will preserve metadata when transferring files. You may try using such a program to transfer your videos.
  3. Use a metadata editor to add date and time information: You can try using a metadata editor, such as ExifTool, to add the date and time information to your video files.
It's worth noting that not all video file formats support metadata, so depending on the format of your video files, it may not be possible to preserve the date and time information.

Well i have a Sanyo J1 Xacti Digital camera and i lost the CD with the software to download the pictures from camera to Computer. Is there any site where i can get download it? Thanks

Try Sanyo.com - look for support button.

Most newer computers with newer operating systems will detect a camera/camcorder when connected to USB. Have you tried it without the disk?

I have an older Xacti that records to SD card. You can use a flash card reader to transfer files without Sanyo software.

I Need driver for my sanyo xacti VPC-HD1A

The problem is with Windows, not the lack of a driver. My XP machine suddenly stopped recognizing my HD1A. I can still connect to other USB drives. The work around - either reboot to Linux, which recognizes the HD1A as a USB drive, or put the SD card into a reader. If your SD card is larger than 2 Gb, you may have to buy a new card reader.

Black screen

Try removing the battery and putting it back in again. This happens to mine. Also make sure that the SD card is fast enough. I.e. a 40x SD or more card or a class 6 SDHC card.

Sanyo XACTI HD1 Camera-No Pictures / Videos captured.

I have intermittent problems of this type too. Occasionally I get a blank screen in the display mode.

Does the red light on the back of your camera flash while the screen is dark? Mine does.

It is beginning to bug me a lot. It may be because I got my camera wet in the past (and hence I have broken my camera), but I doubt that would result in a partial failure.

I think that the Xacti HD1/HD2 has issues a bit like a blue screen of death on an old Windows computer when faced with storage problems.

I.e. it works but crashes sometimes when it cannot store to its storage medium.

These things work for me
1) Turning the power on and off via the button underneath the screen.
2) Removing and re-inserting the SD card.
3) Turning the power on and off by removing the battery.
4) Using a different (and faster?) SD card.
I am still using my HD2, but I am finding that I must attempt solutions 1-3 about once a day.

It could be because the card I have been using recently is not fast enough. The HD2 accepts both SD and SDHC cards. My SDHC card (which is newer) seems to result in fewer problems, either because the SDHC format is more suited to the Xacti HD2 or becaues the SDHC card I have is faster that then SD card I have. I suspect problems with the speed of the card. I am using cheap SD cards.

SD card won't format

Did you update the Firmware of the camera? The VPC-C6 can read and write to SDHC memory cards up to 4GB but it would require to have the latest Firmware being installed on the camera. Firmware can be downloaded via http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/english/support/updata/vpc_c6/index.html
