Polaroid tv 2700 dead

My Polaroid 2700 just went dead, there was a spark and then a pop and the screen went black. The tv is completely dead. I've always been a bit disappointed with this tv anyway. I bought this about 3.5 years ago from the now defunct Circuit City. Oh well, RIP and NEVER buy Polaroid tvs.

I have to tell you that I'm finding that this is about the life expectancy of the first generation LCD TV's. It could be fixed/repaired for between $100 to $200 at a good TV Service Shop.
You may just want to put that money into another TV!

My Polaroid TV is about 3 y/o and it was on for 30 and just went pop and the screen turned black and the red light in the corner. Does this mean my TV's blew?

That pop was a "button" surface mounted circuit board capacitor blowing up, inspect the main board first and look for burn mark in the board.

There is a black spot in the screen. How do I get it out?

Hello:
LCD TVs have millions of "pixels" that change color to make up a complete picture. Sometimes in the manufacturing process, pixels can become damaged (called "dead pixels"). There is no way for the consumer to fix these. Most manufacturers have a certain number of pixels that are "allowed" to be broken before they will fix it.
You should contact either the vendor you purchased the TV from, or Polaroid support.
You can contact Polaroid Support at 1-800-POLAROID (1-800-765-2764).

You may have blown power supply for the backlight inverter or blown backlight inverter board, either one are cheap!,
This is cheaply made TV to begin with. Repiar shop will charge you $200 and up plus parts.
