My upright freezer door won't close all the way. It used to close. I had it open for a few days as I defrosted it and didn't need it right away. Did the door get twisted?

If the door is left open for a long period of time, this will cause your evaporator coil to freeze into a block of ice. You will need to turn off and defrost the coil, for quicker results you can use a hair dryer for this. Once the coil is completely defrosted, turn on and monitor.
this can be multiple issues. look for the freezer being level. look for any missing screws where water can leak out during defrost. make sure the door closes and seals. be sure you have the right amount of defrost cycles at the correct length. check to see if defrost heaters work. you may need to add a heater to the drain if there isn't one. worst case: remove product overnight and store in another freezer, unplug unit and leave door open to defrost, then plug in first thing in the morning.
Turn it off, defrost it for a couple of days """""with the door open""""", restart it with door closed and see if it starts freezing again after about 2-3 hours, if so, then the draw unit works, that indicates the defrost cycle needs to be reset or one of the defrost elements has failed causing the rest no to do anything. Sounds like frost bulidup from door being left open warm air gets in making frost and ice. Need to turn off for 24hrs or so to let all the ice melt compleatey then turn back on keep door closed run for 24hrs check Temp. shoud be about 0 to -5 Deg. if good start using.
This is normal when compressor starts u can hear some gurgling from evap. from feron flowing. If you hear gurgling only when you close the door it's water in drain pan when you close the door air is forced down drain tube blowing air into water.
With the door left open moisture would get into the unit behind the walls and into the duct work. The only way to fix this right is to unload it and let it unthaw for a day or so open. Once it is all defrosted and restarted it should be fine again.
Hi. I am Kelly and welcome to FixYa. Here is the real question..... Is the food staying frozen?
Freezers usually defrost 3 times a day (8 hr intervals) Some as often as 4 times a day. The freezer use concept is that it is not opened more than 3 times a day. (Yes there will be more times than that any given week)
Having said all of that.... some things to look at.
1. Check the door seal for any signs of tears... grease... collapse...
2. Make sure there are no gaps in the door or between the closed door and the seal.
3. Many people don't check this one... but make sure it is level. An un-level freezer can cause the door seal not to function correctly.
Now if your saying that the food is actually defrosting... then there are a few other things that can cause that.
A. Sticking / defective Defrost timer
B. Defrost element is not heating and the freezer goes through a VERY long defrost cycle as the contents have to reach 60 Deg F for the 60 Deg bi-metal thermostat to close and advance the defrost timer to start the compressor.
C. Intermittent operation of the 60 Deg thermostat
