Check for bad connections on your yoke plugs. Each pic tube has its own yoke and will go to the main pc board, It will be a 4 wire plug w red, blue, etc. Two for vertical two for horizontal.
The problem is the light tunnel is collapsing. This is a VERY common issue with the Samsung/Akai DLP TV's. It is four mirrors used to transfer the light after it passes the color wheel to the DMD board. When part of it collapses the grey bar that you are seeing is the end result. This is a part that usually requires a technician to replace as there is a little tear down of the light engine itself and you would be handling delicate parts. The part number for the tunnel assembly is BP96-01961A and I have included a link so you can purchase it through the Samsung website. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thanks..
This Akai TV is actually built by Samsung. You need to count the blinking lights on the front panel. This indicates an error code. With the code I can tell you what circuit has failed in the TV.
This is your color wheel bad it is a moving part please do not use you will damage it more. to fix this you will have to hire a tv repair shop. cost if only color wheel is around 450.00. and in some cases you have to replace the light engine which would be around 950.. to fix.
