Dishwasher isn't filling with water

I have a Kenmore 665.14753N612 and it appears to stop filling the tub about 1-2 minutes after we start a cycle. The dishwasher acts like it is working fine, but it doesn't seem like there is water flowing after the initial 1-2 minutes. Dishwasher will indicate cycle is done, but soap is still in the soap tray and dishes are still dirty. Any ideas of where to start?

It sounds like your Kenmore dishwasher is having an issue with water not filling up in the tub. There could be a few different reasons why this is happening.
One possibility is that the dishwasher's water inlet valve is malfunctioning. This valve controls the flow of water into the dishwasher and if it's not functioning properly, it could be preventing water from entering the tub. You may need to replace the water inlet valve in order to fix the issue.
Another potential cause could be a clogged or dirty filter screen or spray arm. If these parts are not working correctly, it could be causing the water flow to be disrupted, which could lead to the dishwasher not filling with water. Cleaning or replacing these parts could solve the issue.
It's also possible that there's an issue with the dishwasher's float switch. This switch is responsible for monitoring the water level in the tub and if it's malfunctioning, it could be causing the dishwasher to stop filling up with water. You may need to replace the float switch to fix the issue.
Finally, there could be a problem with the dishwasher's control board or timer. If these parts are malfunctioning, it could be causing the dishwasher to stop filling with water or not complete a cycle. In this case, you may need to replace the control board or timer to fix the issue.
It's recommended to check these potential causes one by one until you identify the root cause of the problem. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, you may want to consider contacting a professional appliance repair technician to help you diagnose and fix the issue.

The soap doesn't dissolve and sometimes the plates are still dirty.

Start dishwasher. Stop after a minute or so. Check the water level in the tub. On a older model I would expect about 2 inches of water in the tub. About 1/2 inch or so below heater.

If water OK than I assume you can hear the pump running.

If pump running and enough water than I would assume a blocked wash arm.
  • First rotate by hand and make sure that it doesn't bind or interfere with rack.
  • Check carefully the holes at the ends of the arm looking for debris that collects. Seeds and such love to collect at the tips preventing the jet of water that provides the rotation force from escaping. Use small tweezers to grab debris and pull through hole
  • Blocked water return screen. Look for clear plastic etc that covers the return of the water to the pump sump.
  • Place small cups right side up in upper and lower rack. Cycle machine for a minute or so. Confirm cups are filling with water!!
If all checks OK than try running water at sink for several minutes to confirm water is very hot. Start cycle knowing inlet water to dishwasher is hot. Evaluate results.

KENMORE DISHWASHER, WATER CONTINUES TO FILL AFTER WASHER IS SHUT OFF.

You're correct you have a faulty water inlet valve. At the end of the wash cycle the solenoid in the valve is not closing properly to not allow water to re-enter the tub. For further assistance with this repai

We just installed a new kenmore dishwasher yesterday. Model 13242 It has been running for almost2 hours and is still on the washing cycle--no water in it however--is this normal? I'm in a bit of a panic as...

THAT IS NOT NORMAL!!!!!!! A normal wash and dry cycle will take approx. 2 hours in length including drying cycle.
You should see that water has been present in the machine within the first 2 minutes of the start of the wash cycle, you should also be able to hear the water entering the wash tub.
The fill valve or water supply seems to be the issue, if the water doesn't enter the tub then the controller won't proceed witht the wash cycle. Double check your water supply tube / hose to make sure there is water present at the connection to the dishwasher.
GOOD LUCK !

Frigidaire (LTF2940E) Washer starts, stops, starts, stops...

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher starts to fill, then stops

My best guess is the door latch or door latch switch is not working properly. Once the unit is full of water try holding the door shut tightly if the unit runs by doing this check the top rack and make sure it is completely seated to the back. I have found a knife or fork tangled in the top rack and letting it seat, also the alignment of the water line for the top rack. If it does not run with what I have suggested, it will be time to start checking the mainboard operation.
I hope this helps

Whirlpool dishwasher will not fill with water

turn the valves to the left if there the screw in type or parraell if the quick open type the first thing a dishwasher does when you start it is drain for a few minutes then stops then fills with hot water run the water as hot at the sink as you can before starting the washer there is a float in the tub that can shut the water valve off if its not seated on the safety switch after the drain at the start of cycles stops then you should hear the water valve open and start the fill let me know and we will go from there
