How can I get the flame on my Norcold refrigerator (Model N306RM8) to stay lit?

The burner on my Norcold Model# N306RM8 refrigerator won't stay lit. I opened the LP valve, turned the selector switch to the LP mode, turned the gas control to the HI position. Then pushed and held in the gas control knob while pushing the piezo lighter several times. The burner lights and stays lit as long as I hold down the gas control knob. As soon as the gas control knob is released, the flame goes out. Tried several times and it does this each time. I bought this 2017 Jayco from another owner. Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it myself?

The burner on my 8682 Norcold RV refrigerator will not stay lit.

I take it this is a refrigerator that operates on elec as well as gas, and if so then check the thermocoupling on the unit. If it runs on elec then that is about all that can go wrong.

Hello, First thing would be what is the make and model number of the unit? I have also found on units such as dometic and norcold there are recent manufacturer recalls due to issues with the burners. I will await till you provide the make and model number before makeing a specific solution to your issue. I await your reply and will respond to any questions you have as well.

The electrode that ignites the burner, also senses flame to keep burner going. Sounds like it's defective. I'd replace it, but take old one with you to match it up.

I have the same model refrigerator in my 1999 Eurovan. Before you leave for your trip, if you haven't used the refrigerator for some time make sure it will light before you leave and run it for awhile. This will help insure it will light when you are camping. A good trick I learned is to light one of the burners on the stove for a minute before you switch the refrigerator to propane. That seems to help. Also, don't release the ignitor button on the refrigerator until 15 to 20 seconds and then do so VERY VERY SLOWLY . One other trick is set the cooling dial in a different position than the "Start" position. If that doesn't work then turn it back to the Start position. Sometimes it takes several times to get the refrigerator to light but once it is it will stay on.

Refrigerator on rv keeps going out

Two reasons, first would be that the burner is dirty and needs cleaning. Second is that the thermocouple is either faulty or incorrectly installed. By this I mean that it might be slightly too far away from the flame to be able to conduct sufficient heat to keep the thermocouple open. This can happen when you park or drive and the rv is at different angles. So the flame does not heat the thermocouple enough and it shuts off the supply.
