Question about Energy Speakers ESW V10 Subwoofer

1 Answer

Energy ESW-V10 - blue led always "ON" but woofer won/t turn "On", no matter if switch is in "auto-On" or "ON" .

The only way to turn sub-woofer "ON" is to remove the sub rca plug and reconnecting it and making sure that contact if made with a "thumping" sound...and then it will stay "on" til next time when you have to go trough the same loops...no other issues, sounds great!

If the blue LED on your Energy ESW-V10 subwoofer is always on but the woofer won't turn on regardless of the switch position, it's possible that there is an issue with the amplifier or power supply. Try checking the power cord and making sure it's plugged in securely. If that doesn't work, you may need to have the subwoofer professionally repaired or replaced.

How to splice a sub-woofer to speakers

Normally the sub woofer is driven by a separate amplifier, unless the main speakers, such as in a pro audio setup have a special LF out set of terminals on the back of the speaker cabinet, in this case there is a hi powered low pass filter, fitted in side the speaker to route the LF energy to a sub woofer. Else you need a line lever LF signal spliter and a power amplifier to connect a sub woofer.

My wireless subwoofer keep cutting off and coming back on when the music or movie is playing

Some/most Sub Woofers have a Switch that turns them Off/On/ or Auto. On Auto, the Sub only turns on when there is a signal present. ( sound coming into the Sub ) When there is no signal, the sub goes into standby mode. Wireless subs may be made to be in standby mode as the default.

Where should I plug in my sub woffer

There should be two jacks on the back that say SUBWOOFER in the "preout" section of the back panel that is directly above the speaker jacks. Either of these jacks should work for your sub hook-up. Also make sure that you set your front speakers to small in the speaker setup menu, otherwise there will be output to the subwoofer jacks.

I have a Mirage Prestige S8 subwoofer. 4 years old. Suddenly nothing....not functioning. No change in usage or location. Any ideas?

Check the status indicator - The LED found on the front panel should be illuminate in blue when the subwoofer is functioning. If the unit is in Auto mode and is not receiving a signal, the light will remain off. Try setting the power switch on the back to ON if in the Auto setting. Post back the status of your LED.

Unable to get my sub to work with my Denon AVR 1506 Receiver

Did it ever work? Are you certain the sub is getting a signal. It has to be defined. How about the speaker levels adjustment? Did that work? Give us a clue.

No signal from sub connected to NAD T760 in test mode.

Try using front pre out to the sub from the receiver. the crossover is in the sub anyway. If this works change your settings on the receiver and test again. If sub is still inop, could be an internal issue with the sub amp. Does your sub amp have an on/auto/off switch or light? check that as well. Hope this helps, if you need further assistance, send a reply and I'll help some more

Energy S 8.3 Woofer; blue led doesen't light up

Bought a S10.3 in jan/2010, LED died a month later. I've repaired it by myself. After inspecting circuit, I've found that their design puts almost 14V of reverse bias upon that poor blue LED. These components are not usually expected to sustain more than 5V of reverse polarization. So, in my opinion, there is a design flaw. To make a long lasting repair, you just need to insert a general purpose diode in series with the LED, such as an inexpensive 1N4148 ($0.05). And, of course, any readily available 3V, 5mm, through-hole round blue LED (I think crystal clear should be better).

Sub-woofer does not turn itself on in 'Auto' mode (signal driven)

For the "auto on" problem.

These will sound very basic, please go with it.

On your signal source, make sure you have the sub set to on.
If you can adjust the output setting on your source, turn this up.
Adjust the volume setting on the sub lower to mach the volume of the main speakers.
You may need to make these adjustments a few times to get them working.

On the hum and noise problem

Check your power outlet for the sub, make sure the polarity is correct. I have found this to not always be right. Also what is on that same circuit. Things like the fridge can cause a lot of noise on the power line. Next check your connecting cables, are they of good quality? Are they running next to anything that may cause interference? Also check you connections to the signal source. Cable and dishes are known for ground problems.
