It sounds like there may be an issue with the map disk or the CD/DVD drive that is causing the error message to appear and preventing the drive from opening or closing properly. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Make sure the map disk is inserted correctly. Check the label on the disk to make sure it is facing the right direction, and try inserting it again to make sure it is securely in place.
  2. Check the CD/DVD drive for any visible damage or debris that may be preventing it from working properly. If you see anything that looks like it may be causing a blockage, try gently removing it with a soft, dry cloth.
  3. Restart the device and see if the error message goes away. Sometimes, simply turning the device off and back on again can resolve minor software issues.
  4. If none of the above steps work, you may need to seek professional help to diagnose and fix the issue. Consider reaching out to the manufacturer or a local repair shop for assistance.

My lcd does not display anything when turned on

Look at the LCD screen very closely and check if you can see a faint image on the screen. It's possible that the LCD lid close switch stuck in the "closed" position and the back-light stays off even when you open the LCD screen or turn on the laptop. The switch turns off the back-light when you close the LCD display to save the laptop battery power.

If that didn't fix it then there are 3 things that could have gone wrong:

1. Video cable connection from inverter to LCD got loose. To check this, follow instructions from step 3 on how to open the LCD and check if cable is fitted properly.

2. The video inverter is faulty
The screen inverter failure is very similar to the back-light lamp failure. In both cases the screen gets very dark and the image on the screen becomes very faint, barely visible under a bright light. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. You can replace this otherwise - you can find the inverter under the screen, follow the procedure described at point 3 to open up the screen.

3. The LCD monitor is faulty
If it works on an external monitor most likely the LCD is faulty and needs replacement. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. If not, you can do it yourself, it's pretty easy. Remove the rubber covers on the side of the screen, unscrew the screws take the plastic cover off, disconnect the video inverter and put in the new LCD after you connect the video inverter to it.

The eject button on my VRDMC5 DVD recorder does not work at all.

When idsk is not recognized it is because the laser mechanism can no longer focus on the disk. If this happens with all disks then the unit is fubar and it is time to go shopping since repair is not cost effective.

    Nav system

Installing the DVD Map Disc Your dealer/retailer may have installed the map DVD. If the map DVD was not installed, do the following to load it:
    Read the following steps completely.
    1. Turn the ignition on. The vehicle must be in P (Park) to perform this operation.
    2. Press (power) to turn the navigation system on.
    3. Press the NAV hard key.
    4. Touch the Insert Map Disc screen button. The screen opens to access the map DVD slot.
    5. Load the map DVD partway into the slot. The system pulls it in. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
    6. To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.
    7. Set the search area. See "Setting the Search Area" earlier in this section.
Ejecting the DVD Map Disc The navigation portion of the system cannot be used if the DVD map disc is not loaded.
    1. Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Nav is selected or touch the Nav screen button.
    2. Touch the Map Database Information screen button.
    3. Touch the Eject Map Disc screen button. The screen tilts, exposing the map DVD slot.
    4. Press the eject button, located next to the DVD map disc slot, and the disc ejects. Pull the disc out. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
    5. To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.

The unit has stuck on a location miles away

If you were panning the map while navigating, the map on the display will stay where you panned to; despite the fact that you are still moving. You need to exit "pan" mode by pressing the PAGE button (right side, top button). Good Luck.
