Re: My Maytag Heavy duty 4 speed select, 10 cycle washing...
If your Maytag washing machine is agitating during the spin cycle, it could be due to a few different issues. Here are some possible causes:
Defective Transmission: The transmission in the washing machine is responsible for shifting the agitator and the drum between the spin and agitation cycles. If the transmission is defective, it may not be able to engage or disengage the agitator properly, causing it to spin during the spin cycle.
Worn Drive Belt: The drive belt connects the motor to the transmission and helps to control the speed and direction of the agitator and drum. If the belt is worn or damaged, it may not be able to properly control the agitator, causing it to spin during the spin cycle.
Malfunctioning Clutch: The clutch in the washing machine helps to regulate the spin and agitation cycles. If the clutch is not functioning properly, it may not be able to disengage the agitator during the spin cycle, causing it to spin along with the drum.
Faulty Timer: The timer controls the various cycles and functions of the washing machine, including the spin and agitation cycles. If the timer is faulty, it may not be able to properly sequence the cycles, causing the agitator to spin during the spin cycle.
It's best to have a professional technician inspect and diagnose the issue to determine the exact cause and the necessary repairs.

Sounds like you need a new efficient front loader. With all the problems you have, it may be beyond economic repair. The drive belt is $62, the seal is $120. That may fix it, but who knows?
Yours is a 2 speed motor. Does it spin in 2 different speeds. If so, then it most likely is designed with only to agitate in 1 speed. If it only spins in one speed, then your motor is defective
2.13.1 Scrud
If fabric softener is used regularly it will eventually cause a build up within the outer bowl. This can
result in black flakes present in the wash load that can stain garments. To remove scrud follow the
procedure below.
Step1: Add a full cup of a good quality dishwashing powder such as Active or a similar product
into the machine.
Step 2: Set the machine to a Heavy Duty cycle, select a Hot Wash temperature, High Water level
and allow the machine to agitate for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Leaving the lid closed, turn the machine off and allow to soak overnight.
Step 4: The following day, turn the machine on and advance to the spin cycle to drain the water
from the machine. After the water has drained, turn the machine off then back on again, and select
a Heavy Duty cycle, Hot wash, High Water level, and allow the machine to complete a full cycle to
ensure that all of the loose scrud and residual detergent has been flushed away. Note: If there is an extremely heavy build up the bowl will have to be removed for pressure washing
i have a oversizecapacityplus- quiet service heavy duty-2speedmotor-10 cycle maytag the water just keeps over flowinf and wont agitate but will spin i think its the timer part no35-5369 help wher can i get a second hand timer or is this the prob ronihawk @hotmail.com canada
Either your timing motor has broken or the gears that it drives are stripped. The timing motor is easy to replace but if the gears are stripped you will need a whole new dial assembly.
The motor is working, but the mechanism not engaged by the helix so the shaft can not move therefore no agitation or spinning. Motor is designed to turn 2 directions: clockwise and counterclockwise for agitation and spinning. Therefore there are 2 mechanisms to assist these tasks. The drain is control by a separate pump and it is still good also.
The tube has to be out to replace the helix for agitation and a part to engage with the spinning rotation to release the brake so the spinning function can work. These parts are cheap, but the the labor is not. Hope this can help
There is a screw near the base of the agitator. If it is missing replace it with a stainless steel screw. If this is a machine that is older than 25 years, you will have to replace the rubber ring on the agitator shaft.
