Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

1 Answer

I am looking for a drive belt (?) for my Kenmore top-loading washing machine, Model 110.4563291. It is a very old machine but works great. I cannot find part numbers for the machine as most part shops do not recognize the model number I am assuming because it is aged. Anybody have any advice or resources?

You can obtain a drive belt for your Kenmore top-loading washing machine, Model 110.4563291, from several sources:

  1. Sears Parts Direct: They offer parts for Kenmore products and can help you find the correct drive belt for your model.
  2. Local appliance repair shops: They may have the drive belt in stock or can order it for you.
  3. Online retailers: Such as Amazon or eBay, offer a wide variety of washing machine parts including drive belts.
It's important to note the model number and the type of drive belt you need to ensure you get the correct part.

Instructions on how to install a belt on a kenmore top load washing machine model #: 110.24622300

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Next, see the following illustrated description of how to replace a belt on top load washers:

Belt is loose or needs replaced. on a 70 series kenmore washer machine

Can you provide the exact Make, Model and Kenmore model number? ..........

Kenmore model numbers use the format ###.######## with the first three digits of 110 for Whirlpool manufactured machines.........

The model number on top load washers is usually found by lifting the lid and looking above the tub.

The Fixya numbers are Stock Numbers.

Since basic top load direct drive, top load electronic and front load washers are very different, the actual Model Numbers are necessary to correctly diagnose the problem.

Slipping on direct drive washers is usually caused by a damaged / broken Motor Coupler or clutch.

If yours is a direct drive machine, see the following:

No drive to the drum (tub).

i am not cretin of your model but many washers are a kind of direct drive, in that there is a rubber vibration damper between the motor and the transmission, look at the motor output shaft and you will see it, attempt to turn the shaft by hand, make certain it is unplugged, there should be no play between the two shafts, otherwise there is a problem internal to the transmission

Loads water but then just stops, the motor is not spinning, the belt looks tight still...

Is this a front or top load unit. If its a top loader then unless its 20 plus years old you shouldnt have a belt it should be a direct drive. If its a top load I would check the lid switch.

Why won't the Kenmore top loading washing machine agitate?

There are two types of Kenmore top loading washing machines. The direct drive models and the belt drive models. Direct drive models do not have a back access panel and the water inlet valve is located on the left side viewed from the rear while belt drive models do have back access panel and the water inlet valve is located on the right side viewed from the rear.

The most common problem causing a top loading machine not to agitate, particularly when the motor seems running, is a broken motor coupler for direct drive models and a broken or worn out drive belt for belt drive models.

The best way to exactly determine the cause is to access the drive motor. Open the back access panel for belt drive models and check the drive belt. Check the drive motor if it is running, humming or stuck.

Please indicate the model number of the washing machine if it is a direct drive model for the procedure in accessing drive motor.

Kenmore washer (model # 110 24872300) won't agitate.

Your machine has no belt. It has a direct drive coupling. The direct drive coupling between the motor and transmission must be replaced.
