The EchoStar HDT 610R recorder's issue of not being able to record certain freeview channels could be due to:

  • Insufficient storage. Check if the device has enough storage space.
  • Electronic interference. Unplug other devices or move the recorder to a different location.
  • Software or hardware malfunction. Try resetting to factory settings.
  • Weak signal. Try adjusting the aerial or getting a signal booster.
  • If none of these work, a professional's help may be needed.

Thanks for responding. I've tried all those and still have the problem. The Hard disc is 85% full but it worked OK a few weeks ago when it was 92% full, so ....?

Another point - It is perfectly OK recording most channels - just refuses the odd one. Strange!

I have just recently had the same problem with Channel 4 and 5. Other channels are still recording ok.

Now I am even more confused! I bought an identical EchoStar HDT 610R and that one has exactly the same problem. ie it will record some channels but not others. BBC channels OK, ITV, Chan 4 & 5 not recording plus quite a few others. Some plus one channels record others don't. All HD channels record OK. Interestingly the channels that don't record will not pause live TV. I am well confused especially as the new machine does the same. I have tried switching regions, Re-tuning (1st with no antenna to clear the memory then with antenna), Clearing library space (the new machine had 500Gb space). Can this be a firmware problem or a problem with Freeview? All worked fine 3 weeks ago. Help anybody?!!

I have just bought a Digihome pvr320sd tv recorder with freeview, can i set it up as a tv recorder only without the freeview as i already have built in freeview on my tv.

When you set up the recorder Freeview stations will be stored. This means that you can record TV stations without watching them. So you can say watch BBC1 on your TV and record a program on Channel Four. You need the recorder set up with Freeview to recorder channels. Otherwise you would have to have your TV on and recorder set to record via the scart lead. Which would be not great quality and messy.
You should be able to loop the aerial lead so that both the TV and recorder can get the signals from your aerial, if that's what is bothering you.

I have an Alba 32880hdf freeview tv. I cannot record freeview programmes to my panasonic NV-FJ 780 vcr which has 2 scart sockets. I have no problem recording the teresteral channels. Can you help pls

Hi Victor,

You can't record the Freeview channels from the TV. It doesn't work that way. The reason you can still record terrestrial channels is because the VCR is still connected to your roof aerial with a co-axial cable and the VCR has its own built-in analogue tuner for recording terrestrial TV programmes.

To record the digital Freeview channels, you will either need to connect a separate Freeview set-top box to the VCR, or buy a VCR which has a built-in digital (DVB-T) tuner.

The VCR does not record programmes from the TV. It needs to be connected directly to the signal source, i.e. your aerial.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

BElectric

I have auto retuned my recorder as per instructions today and now I cannot recive channel 5 at all

You may lose some channels when you retune the TV as the channels have been rearranged. To locate them look at the EPG although you may still find that some channels are no longer available on FREEVIEW. See the following link for additional information

http://www.freeview.co.uk/_retuneinfo/

If the above process does not work then check the link above for additional information and also visit the accompanying site links below to find more information for your model of TV / FREEVIEW box.

Dmr-es10 dvd recorder - cant get the machine to record digital channels form tv

Channels 1-5 are I believe for Analogue reception. To record from my digital Freeview box, I'm plugged into SCART port 2 (bottom most port on right hand side of machine as you look at it from the front). Use your remote to change the channel to A2 with the <CH> rocker button just above the video+ button on the controller. This will then record whatever channel your freeview box is set to - the only pain is you can't watch a separate channel whilste recording.

Kind Regards

Wharfedale DVDR24HD250 DVD Recorder When set up will not find any programmes on Automatic Programme Search (APS)

Products such as this will use an internal tuner to tune channels, this tuner will not detect your televisions freeview stations, to record from your television, connect scart out from tv to the scart in on the recorder, then select the scart A/V channel, use the television to select the channel you want to record, you will not be able to record 1 freeview channel and watch another freeview chanel as you only have 1 digital tuner (in the television) the recorder does not have freeview built in.. hope that helps

Can't tune stations from freeview box to DVDR3380/5

You can only record freeview channels through your box.

Assuming the digi-box has two scart sockets, connect as follows:

  • Scart 1 or TV scart of the digi-box to the TV.
  • Scart 2 or VCR/DVD scart of the digi-box to scart 1 of the DVDR3380.
The TV aerial should already be connected through the digi-box and DVDR3380 to the TV

To record from the digi-box, select AV1 / E1 / EXT1 on the DVDR3380
If you are doing timer recordings, you will also need to leave the freeview box on the channel you wish to record, or set the freeview box timer.
