If you are unable to scan with your Canon Pixma E400, you may need to update the printer's software. You can download the latest software from the Canon website and install it on your computer. Once the software is installed, you should be able to scan documents with your printer.

Check 1: Make sure that your scanner or printer is turned on. Check 2: Connect the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer. Check 3: If the USB cable is connected to a USB hub, remove it from the USB hub and connect it to a USB port on the computer.

TRy checking your cable between the scanner and computer. If you have spare try changin wire, it could be a problem with the wire or connection is not good.

suspect you do not have the cannon scanning software installed.
suggest downloading the drivers from cannon

Then hopefully the program for scanning is installed.
and it works out how your scanner is connected to your pc ?

Cannon mp160 scanner does not work- do not have original CD

use this link here I had the same problem the printer and copier was working fine then I had to click the software and add the software for mp navigator to scan... u can also get drivers for the printer on the same page for anyone who has lost the orginal cd it came with... now it works fine

Was it created to work with Vista?
Otherwise you could purchase, new scanner software such as Nuance ScanSoft OmniPage 16, right now you can get it with Paperport 11 added in for FREE.
