If your i5200 scanner is not functioning properly, you may need to cycle power and clean the lower imaging guide. To do this, first power off the scanner and unplug it from the wall. Then, use a soft cloth or cotton swab to clean the lower imaging guide. Once the guide is clean, plug the scanner back in and power it on. If this does not resolve the issue, then you may need to contact a qualified technician who can inspect the scanner and make the necessary repairs.

LED on the scanner Kodak i5200 not working

Each strip has it's own codes, when you swapped them you probably burnt the drivers out. I am surprised that they would plug in to different LCD arrays. You will probably have to replace the drivers for each strip. You can get the number off them and order them from eBay or I use [www.alldatasheets.com]. You can enter the part # there and it will give you the data sheets on each one. As a last resort contact the mfg. Their tech's can advise you better than anyone but I am sure replacing the BDC IC's will fix the problem.

"cycle error" - scanner powers up ok but will not scan due to this error ID=055

Error 55: "Lamp I2C error reading from DAC". Operator log message: "Cycle power, if problem persists, call service.". This error is involves communication errors between the LED AY and the DAC. A couple things can be done to alleviate this issue but unfortunately, as a user, you can only perform the first step. The other steps require a Kodak Field Engineer to complete. First step, upgrade your Firmware. Firmware updates can be found at the following web page: http://graphics.kodak.com/DocImaging/US/en/Support_Center/Document_Scanners/Production/i5200_Scanner/Support/Drivers_And_Downloads/i5000_Series_Scanner_Firmware/index.htm. If you still experience issues following the firmware upgrade, call Kodak Service & Support to schedule a field engineer to be dispatched to your site.

Troubleshooting

It's not rollers. Try taking the glass guides out and cleaning them. Then calibrate. If that doesn't fix it then cleaning mirrors in cameras is next step.

The scanner is reporting an E2 error code when it draws a document in. Any ideas? Re-cycling the power clears error but comes back when I scan. thankyou in advance

Hi,

This error message means ADF front side scanning optical alarm (lower optical unit ADF) which indicates ADF (front) lamp intensity check. Please follow the steps provided below:

1. Is the upper glass (white sheet guide)of the reading section dirty?

Open the ADF, and clean the sheet guide (white part) and the glass.
# When operating the scanner, the ADF’s inside glass becomes very hot. Take serious caution as the heat can cause burns. Before you clean the inside of the scanner, turn off its power and unplug the AC adapter from the outlet and wait (at least three minutes) until it gets cold.Be careful not to pinch your fingers when the ADF cover is being closed.
Note: Cleaning should be done approximately every 10,000 sheets scanned, though it may vary depending on types of
documents scanned. More frequent cleaning is necessary when the following types of documents are scanned:
- Smooth surface document such as coated paper
- Documents printed on almost entire surface
- Documents processed with chemical materials such as carbonless paper
- Paper with a high calcium content
- Pages with pencil lead
- Document where toner is not fused sufficiently.

If the above does not help, then the issue is caused by any of the followings for which you may have to contact the Fujitsu Expert/Engineer.

1. Lower Optical unit ADF may be dirty.
2. Lower lamp may not be functioning properly.
3. The connecting cables might be damaged.
4. The connectors are not connected properly.

Hope the above information is helpful.

Xerox Documate 152 - Scan quality is now V.BAD!

I would go to Xerox.com and look up their knowledge base. Here is a copy of data from their site related to this problem:

Symptom: Scanned images have poor image quality, are fuzzy, unclear, or hard to read.
Cause: There are several things that can lead to poor image quality including the scan settings, dirt on the scanner, and driver problems. Solution: Note: If you scan as a PDF file and your scans look fuzzy when viewed in PaperPort, try right clicking on the file and selecting "Open" to open them in Adobe Reader. If they display fine in Adobe Reader then there is nothing wrong with the scans, it is simply that they are not being displayed well in PaperPort.

The following solutions can help resolve poor scan quality.

Solution 1 - Adjust the scan settings

Try increasing the resolution of your scan. 300 dpi to 400 dpi should be clear for most images
  • If you are scanning in Black and White, try Grayscale or Color. Some images will not display correctly in Black and White
  • You can also try adjusting the brightness and contrast
  • Note: For information on adjusting your scan settings, refer to the user guide for your scanner
Solution 2 - Clean and Calibrate the scanner

Note: Calibration only applies to sheetfed scanners.

Use the link below for instructions on cleaning and calibrating (if applicable) your scanner:
Solution 3 - Reinstall the scanner driver Select a link below for instructions on reinstalling your scanner driver:

Why does the scanner hesitate when feeding the paper through the scanner and gives a scanned double image at the top of the page?

Is there a gear grinding noise associated with this? If so, call your local dealer for service. If not:Clean all the rollers you can reach with a cloth dampened with alcohol. Check for any obstructions in the paper path like torn paper, heavy toner buildup on guide plates or the edges of the scanning glass, or any paper guides obviously loose or out of place.
