Blue lines in screen

Hello,

I just get from a friend his Sony rear projection tv. I just plug in, it worked, but I have fine blue lines on the screen. When I switch to dvd, I got more lines but they appears thinner. Is this normal? If not, how do I fix this problem?

Thank you

First try ajusting Blue screen control turn blue drive down, you have a focus/screen drive controlsfor all 3 tubes small square black box 3 on top are focus 3 on Bottom screen drive red/green/blue if this does not correct problem it means you might have a bad tube or something on blue CRT board that connects to tube.

Follow the steps below after verifying that the issue is occuring on other channels and other video sources.

  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.

Sony KF50WE610 Vertical Blue Lines Across Screen

the vertical blue lines indicate some interference from other electronic gadgets near your tv. it started showing up on my sony grand wega when i installed my wireless modem. i almost ordered a new rear projection lamp costing over $100 but decided to experiment. i first moved my desk computer farther away from the tv then isolated the wireless modem router by placing it inside a small glass - the vertical blue lines became lighter in color so i dedided to find another small glass that fit inside the first glass container then put the router in the double glass - no more blue lines and my wireless modem router still works.
do some deductive thinking to figure out what's messing up your tv and isolate the interference.
good luck!

Further assistance needed

I just replied you and here once again...

Please pull front speaker grill and find focus block, fixed at corner having 6 control knobs on it.
Find Blue Screen control knob there.
Put your TV in AV mode to get dark screen and just press Display button on remote to have AV display.
Now slightly rotate control knobs counter clock wise until thin lines (retrace) disappear. Job is done and put back speaker grill, press display button again to disappear screen display.

Sony KP-51HW40 51 in. Rear Projection turns blue

Hello......
First reduse the G2 voltage for the blue c.r.t,and watch if the unit works for longer period (offcource blue colour will be not present). After reducing G2 voltage to blue c.r.t still behaves the same than c.r.t is faulty and you have to replace.
Pls count the red led blinking when it goes off, incase it goes to std by mode.
