HTR-5750: How to access menu without remote control?
Is there any way I can access the setup menu of the Yamaha HTR-5750 without the remote control?
I own an HTR-5830 with a very similar front pannel interface and I can access the menu with the receiver buttons. But on the HTR-5750 that I just bought used, no button seems to bring me to the menus...
Help!
Thanks.

I am so puzzled though as to why make a receiver that menus cannot be accessed without a remote... Simply makes absolutely no sense to me, and I think it is a very poor design decision."
I understand that. Apparently, it's a "cost-saving" issue for low-end electronics. I've seen it on some TVs, as well, and include the presence of the Menu front panel button in my comparison shopping. Let me know what you need to do I might be able to to help. In My Yamaha ( Quite Old) The set menu is a switch on the remote, and once it's in "set menu" mode, I use the four way arrows to navigate in the menu.
If so, you should be aware that on many recievers and surround amplifiers some of the functions may only be accessible via the remote control (the best way to learn about it is to consult the user manual).
I have a Pioneer VSA-730 surround amplifier and the only way i can change the mix levels for surround/sub/center speakers is by a remote control. My friend had the same problem and, after reading the manual, he discovered that he actually needs to use the remote control to access all functions of the amplifier.
I had similar problem when setting up the YAMAHA remote control for my NEC LCD TV. At the end I found I did not follow the YAMAHA manual properly. Did you hold down the DTV/CBL button, and AT THE SAME TIME press the AV POWER for 3+ seconds? You should be able to "REMOTE SETUP OK" displayed in the front panel of the YAMAHA AV receiver. Hope this helps. BTW, only the TV POWER, TV MUTE and the numeric buttons work in my case.
