HTR-5750: How to access menu without remote control?

Is there any way I can access the setup menu of the Yamaha HTR-5750 without the remote control? I own an HTR-5830 with a very similar front pannel interface and I can access the menu with the receiver buttons. But on the HTR-5750 that I just bought used, no button seems to bring me to the menus... Help! Thanks. MARTIN

Unfortunately, you need the remote or a universal remote which matches the original remote to access the menus. The manual for the HTR-5750 is available here: https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/5/319575/HTR_5750_5740.PDF Amazon lists a few vendors with an equivalent remote.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your answer, it is much appreciated! Now I'll have to hunt down for a compatible remote... I am so puzzled though as to why make a receiver that menus cannot be accessed without a remote... Simply makes absolutely no sense to me, and I think it is a very poor design decision."

I understand that. Apparently, it's a "cost-saving" issue for low-end electronics. I've seen it on some TVs, as well, and include the presence of the Menu front panel button in my comparison shopping. Read this procedure to possibly fix the remote:
http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Display&contents=help_deadremote&uuid=A12963989782821
They also sell replacement remotes.
Zoom in on the picture of the original remote provided on the site (or look at your own) and get the actual remote model number.

or check eBay: search for "(model of the device or the remote) remote", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

The set menu button does not take me to the basic setup

Let me know what you need to do I might be able to to help.
In My Yamaha ( Quite Old) The set menu is a switch on the remote, and once it's in "set menu" mode, I use the four way arrows to navigate in the menu.

Does your reciever use a remote control?

If so, you should be aware that on many recievers and surround amplifiers some of the functions may only be accessible via the remote control (the best way to learn about it is to consult the user manual).

I have a Pioneer VSA-730 surround amplifier and the only way i can change the mix levels for surround/sub/center speakers is by a remote control. My friend had the same problem and, after reading the manual, he discovered that he actually needs to use the remote control to access all functions of the amplifier.

Good luck and best regards

What's NEC PF68S33 TV's remote control code for YAMAHA HTR-6130

I had similar problem when setting up the YAMAHA remote control for my NEC LCD TV. At the end I found I did not follow the YAMAHA manual properly. Did you hold down the DTV/CBL button, and AT THE SAME TIME press the AV POWER for 3+ seconds? You should be able to "REMOTE SETUP OK" displayed in the front panel of the YAMAHA AV receiver. Hope this helps. BTW, only the TV POWER, TV MUTE and the numeric buttons work in my case.
