Yamaha HTR 5950 shutting off, tmp 429 error

test it in cool room not packed deep in some cabinet.
see if it is overheating (tmp)
also tested it in free space (no cab) and no speaker
the manual makes no mention of tmp or 429 errors so,, not good that.

things like this love to over heat, I make sure mine AVR has fresh clean cool air all the time with my cabinet vents and I raised mine on 1 inch boards 1"x18" under the feet front to rear, and this lets lots of fresh air go the vents
make sure all AVR casing vent are dust free>?
found your service manal
and TMP means this quoted

"The protection function worked due to the
temperature limit being exceeded. Causes
could be poor ventilation or a defect related
to the thermal sensor. If the power is turned
on with the abnormality unsolved, the pro-
tection function works in about 1 second to
turn off the power" (and saves its own bacon, a super good that)
this error is stored in the logs, so that is only history.

My Denon 1312 AVR receiver doesn't switch on

Thist could be due to a short in the amplifier or in the power supply. You can try the following: disconnect all speakers and components. Then see if the unit powers up. If it does, turn it off, connect one item at a time until the unit fails to come on. That may identify the bad component.

However, it the unit never powers up when it is devoid of speakers and components, repair is going to be more tedious, possibly cost prohibitive.

Htr-3064 reset power on

I had a Power surge in Brisbane this week and found my YAMAHA HTR-3064 AV receiver unresponsive. Thanks to the Squish22's post, I tried the above approach, which is also listed for another Yamaha model (RX-V667) Unfortunately nothing happened. Another post suggested holding the 'straight' button as you power up to go into "advanced" menu (under DILLIGAF's post.) This also did not work.
I thought I'd try pressing all 3 buttons and powering up, which worked a treat. so here's exactly what I did:

Yamaha HTR-3064 - Protection mode reset:
  1. Remove the Power cord form mains power and wait 10 seconds.
  2. Plug cord in and turn on wall socket power.
  3. While holding down "info", "straight" and "tone control" buttons, press "main zone" power button. I got a click and it was good to go from there.
I had all of my speakers unplugged at the time and tested off the headphone jack before plugging all the cables back in again. Not sure if I needed to unplug everything, but I was about to dismantle and look for a fuse when I tried this method.
Saved me a new system / service fee. Hope it helps you too.
Thanks Squish22 and DILLIGAF for the head-start!

Problem denon avr 1910

most electrical units have a fuse inside, try taking cover off and checking for blown fuse,or,take it to radio repair shop.My Harmon Kardon stopped after 3 years, and the report said the unit that failed was quite a common problem for the modern multi channel amps, quite cheap to fix..All my tips are free

All Speakers suddenly dead

The internal audio amplifier is most likely dead, as it drives all speakers and the headphone output. If this is still under warranty, I would go that route. If not, it may be cheaper to buy a new receiver. Parts and labor can be will have to take it to an electronics repair shop for an estimate.
