Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down (-) buttons on the TV (not the remote), and while holding the buttons, plug the power cord back in. Continue to hold the buttons down until a green LED light appears near the Sony logo on the TV front.

Hard to do without a remote. The remote for just about any Sony TV will work. Look on ebay, also do a web search for replacement remotes, lots of places sell them.

Hi,
According to the symptom problem is not so critical, the software needs upgrade. Today i am doing same with another model with same symptom, although updating of software is not big deal for us but i will suggest you to please contact any sony service center or expert nearby, because we do this in routine but lot of things involve like, for software update you need original USB (1GB,2GB but not higher) of Sony, and do some changes after updating in data etc, Which will make it difficult for you, So i will suggest you get it to the nearest service center and they will get nominal charges of it.
Please let me know if yo need further assistance on comment column.

Distortion and horizontl lines

Hi,
If same lines/ distortion appears in every input of tv then it is lcd panel (screen) problem as question shows it is Sony KDL-32ML130 lcd tv.
Can you please post picture of tv screen to show distortion/ lines to diagnose it correctly?
