To access the sponge filter on a Ryobi RM2010 electric lawn mower, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure the lawn mower is turned off and unplugged.
  2. Locate the cowl on the side of the lawn mower. This is the cover that protects the engine.
  3. Look for the height adjustment lever on the same side as the cowl. The sponge filter is typically located under the cowl, near the height adjustment lever.
  4. Lift the cowl to access the sponge filter. The cowl may be secured with clips or latches, or it may be held in place by screws.
  5. Once the cowl is open, you should be able to see the sponge filter. It may be held in place with a clip or other fastening device.
  6. Carefully remove the sponge filter from its housing and set it aside.
  7. Use a soft brush or a cloth to gently clean any dirt or debris from the filter. Avoid using any harsh chemicals or detergents, as these can damage the filter.
  8. Once the filter is clean, replace it in its housing and secure it in place.
  9. Close the cowl and make sure it is securely fastened.

May be the transmission but they charge a small fortune for a new one. Go to lawnmower repair place and look for a junked unit with a good tranny. Replacement is not hard.

My electric lawnmower sometimes does not start, just humms. Then I TURN IT OVER, AND TURN THE BLADE A LITTLE BIT. the blade feels hard at first but soon feels loose. then it wil start as normal

The lawnmowers electric motor has a bad spot on the armature. You need to replace the electrical brushes that contact the motor. If you are lucky you may just need to clean them and reinsert them in to brush holders.

Where is the air filter on Craftsman Model 917377660 lawn mower

If you have a briggs or a tecumsen it is mounted on the side mounted on the top side of the carburator, one is a round cylindrical filter with a steel or plastic mesh surrounding and the other is a rather flat 3"X5" filter also mounted under a single center screw and cover. The third type is an oil bath type sponge filter, mounted directly on top of the carburetor on the side of the engine, you replace the sponge and clean out the metal housing held down with one long screw through its top center.

First start is excellent when cold, will not restart again warm

It sounds as if your engine may be getting too hot. I suggest that you check under the covers and make sure that all the debris is cleaned out. These are air cooled engines and as such need to be kept relatively clear of debris, especially anywhere there are cooling fins.

I have a ryobi lawn mower with a 6.5 hp motor. it

I am working on one now. Customer said "it doesn't run". Ok. So, after oil/spark plug/air filter replacement...it didn't have any gas getting to the carb. Took off the bowl, and on this 2005 lawnmower, the inside of ALL of the carb was covered with a white/chalky film. Looked like tiny rust barnacles over ANY metal surface available. Silty white stuff in bowl. Blasted it all w/carb cleaner. Still couldn't get primer to work, but after I sprayed a bit o' starter in the cylinder, it started well & kept running. Until I let the bar down. Needs a new carb. Will see what the customer wants.

Where is the air filter? How do I clean it?

The air filter should be connected directly to your carburetor. It should just be a sponge in a container connected to the carburetor. On most mowers it is one screw to remove the cover. You remove the sponge, and clean it with soap, and water.Dish washing liquid should work fine.squeeze all the water out of it.then soak the sponge with motor oil.then squeeze out most of the motor oil.The motor oil traps the dust. Then put your slightly oily sponge back in its holder, and close it up. Your done.
