Recording problem on pa800

Please bear with me, I'm new at this. When I record a song on my pa800 and replay it, it sounds good. However, once I save it on a flash drive and play it on my computer, the percussion sounds don't transfer over. Instead, I hear a regular keys playing in their place. I tried converting the MIDI file to MP3 and WAV thinking maybe it's a format playback issue, but the same still happens. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can you help?

It seems as though it may just be a sample issue.I have had this similar problem before, because each drum hit corresponds to a key on the piano. It could also be the program you are using to open it.

How can I record my songs to my tablet or my laptop

The best way is to use the USB output from the Fostex. Connect the USB cable from the Fostex to the USB input of the notebook. A Windows computer should show a USB Audio Device in the device manager. If not, you'll have to get a driver from Fostex and install that. But it should just work, it did in my Vista notebook. Then simply get any number of recording software packages (Windows 8 may have a built-in app). I've used Cool Edit and Reason 4 for recording and editing. You should not record the songs using the notebook's microphone input because (1) the analog noise of a recording generated by the notebook's A-D converter is horrible, and (2) you'll have level and impedance matching problems, even after purchasing something like a pair of Bogen WMT1A line matching transformers. Once you've got it recorded, put it in the cloud and download it onto your tablet. I don't think tablets have USB ports, but maybe yours does.

I wouldn't recommend doing that, because your OS system could freeze occasionally

Is there a good tutorial avail? I lost all my music trying to create a cd without finalizing or mastering!!!! Panic took over and i rushed to undo without fully understanding what i did exactly. No...

You can download a manual from the tascam site for this model. as long as you pre-named your songs, they should show in the menu without mastering. You cannot burn any songs without mastering your songs first, however. They will not appear in the create cd section for this very reason.
Record, master,burn.

Thing is that im recording a song. After recording when i try to play it, it doesnt give any sound. Im positive that it records fine. Any solutions?

This is totally dependent on the software you are using to record.

Not knowing what you are using makes any response a wild guess.

IN GENERAL you must configure both the input and output device within the recording software you are using.

I use Sonar and one has to select the audio input and output device and tell the program which device is used for timing.

Hi, why is it when I have finished mastering a song and record it on to the cd burner on my tascam 2488 mk2 it playsback so much lower that it sounds out of my monitors?

This is a common problem and I would recommend searching the forums on VSPLANET.com where they have all sorts of info and discussions about recording.

How do i recod on the ctk-900 casio?

Try running a line out from your keyboard to the line input on your mac. Go into system preferences, select sound, click the input bar in the upper right corner, select line in/Audio line-in port, then adjust your input volume. You should then be able to record from your keyboard. If this doesn't help you, please let me know. I'm a recording engineer that uses a MacBook for all my multi-track recording projects. Thanks & good luck. Mark
