Smeg SUK61PX8_SS Dual Fuel Cooker Oven Light Randomly Flashes Stops Oven From Working
Hi. We have a Smeg SUK61PX8_SS Dual Fuel Cooker. Since October when the weather is damp, the red oven lock light will come on and flash randomly. When it starts doing this the oven will not turn on because it thinks the oven door is locked when it isn't. We found a sort of solution was to put a ramekin of baking powder in there to possibly absorb any moisture, but that doesn't seem to help anymore. Can you help? Thanks.

Replace the fan motor, the rod is one unit with the motor, half moon shaped and threaded at the end, normally left hand thread

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
If you're Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.
It is illegal to fit a cooker to a gas connection unless you are a registered Gas Safe Engineer . You can find one in your area if you visit www.GasSafeRegister.co.uk

the fan element would have blown. it is not uncommon for an element to trip an rcd when it blows. you are on the right track, if you replace the element all your problems should go away
