Pioneer VSA-5500 can switch on but no display and sound

The receiver is getting power and the indicator light at the power button lights up. When the power button is pressed, can hear a relay clicking (just one clicking overall) then there's nothing, no display, no audio. I think the main control board is not getting power and I'm not sure which part of it might be reason. Might be other reasons too. Someone help guide me to fix this issue.

It sounds like you are having an issue with your Pioneer VSA-5500 receiver not displaying or producing any sound. It's likely that the problem is related to a malfunctioning main control board or a power supply issue. Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Check all the connections between the main control board, power supply, and other components to ensure that they are properly connected and not loose.
  2. Check the fuse on the power supply board, make sure it's not blown, if it is, replace it with a new one.
  3. Check the voltage on the power supply board, make sure the voltage is correct, if the voltage is too low or too high, the main control board may not be receiving enough power to function.
  4. Check the power supply board for any signs of damage, such as burn marks or leakage, if the power supply board is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
  5. Check the main control board for any signs of damage, such as burn marks or leakage, if the main control board is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
  6. If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's likely that the problem is with another component in the receiver and it will require further diagnosis by a professional technician.
It's important to note that troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment can be dangerous, especially if you're not familiar with the device, so it's best to contact a professional technician if you're not comfortable working with it.

"enter and advanced surround keys"? I don't see that documented as a special function in the manual.

BTW: other than the Flashing light, is there a malfunction?

Twice now my Pioneer VSX-819H has shut down. Can not get any power to it. The first time I'm sure the phono pre-amp caused a surge. I no longer have it hooked up. The servicer said nothing was wrong and...

I found this for the VSX918, 818. Perhaps it's similar.

The power does not turn on. • Disconnect the power plug from the outlet, and insert again.
• Make sure there are no loose strands of speaker wire touching the rear panel. This could cause the receiver to shut off automatically.
The receiver suddenly switches off and the power indicator
blinks.
• After about a minute (you won’t be able to switch the unit on during this time), switch the receiver back on. If the message persists, call a Pioneer authorized independent service company.

Hello, I have an old Pioneer VSA-1000 home theatre

I have a Pioneer VSA-1000 with what sounds like the exact same problem. It is the world wide model with multi-voltage selectors.

I bought a schematic a couple years ago that I found at www.servicemanuals.net. Cost USD $21 at the time.

2006 Honda crv, vsa, abs, and triangle light are permanently on

You are talking about the VSA activation indicator (triangle with exclamation point in the middle):
This indicator has three functions:

It comes on as a reminder that you have turned off the vehicle stability assist (VSA) system.

It flashes when VSA is active.

It comes on along with the VSA system indicator (the rectangle with VSA in it) if there is a problem with the VSA system.

This indicator normally comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position, and when the ignition switch is turned to the START (III) position.

Hope this helps you understand the problem.
