Jensen Compact Disc Music system JMC-500W. Open/Close button not opening the lid

I have a Jensen Compact Disc Music system JMC-500W. I press the button labeled "Open/Close" but the lid still doesn't open. It makes a noise like it wants to do something, but the lid doesn't open. I have tried giving the lid a little nudge while pressing "Open/Close" but the lid still doesn't open. Help. How do I get the lid to open so I can put an audio CD in it?

Hi,

Please hold down the open/close button instead of just pressing it. Then you can press the lid while this is happening. I think you might already suspect this, but it sounds like the hook that connects to a portion of the lid isn't unhooken during the button press. Friction might be a cause or the hook-movement might not be functioning as smoothly due to other factors.

If the issue continues, we might have to consult Jensen on a potential repair/replacement of the item as well.

My cd's get stuck in the load unload and have to take top off to get them out. How to correct this? as it will not play my cd's now

It sounds like the actual drive mechanism is having issues. It will most likely need repairs. There is no easy fix for this unless you have replaced electronics internal equipment before...

For a repair it will probably end up costing you more then a new one... What is the make / model we are looking at here?

Thanks

I would like to change regions on my portable Durabrand DVD player model PDV-722

Alright, just follow these steps and let me know if you have any problems or questions

  1. Power and switch on the Durabrand DVD player.
  2. Open the DVD disc tray tray or lid.
  3. Press Stop.
  4. Press 3 - 5 - 9 - 7 (3597 in sequence). Can be done on remote control.
  5. Hidden DVD Region menu appears. Select region 0 or 9 using up or down button on remote control
  6. Press OK.
  7. Close the disc tray and press Standby on the DVD player front

Lid Closure

OK - There is nothing that drives the door to close and stay closed. There is a little plastic gismo the locks onto a little protruding tongue in the lid keeping it closed. To release the lid, you must press the lid foreward so that it releases the lock in the little plastic gismo. I found this out only after removing the board above the main deck of the player and which, fumble-fingers me, I managed to damage the board and will have to replace it along with the little plastic gismo that holds the door closed. I am not sure if either of these parts are available as I have had the unit for quite a while. This leaves me in a quandry as I really did like the little player. It was a dandy. So, if you ever get an inquiry on how to keep the lid closed on a JMC_800, tell them to replace the little plastic gismo and that will do it.
