Marantz DV 9500 DOES NOT PLAY ANY of normal CDs. Reads ONLY Super Audio CDs. What could be the cause for this fault?
Is there ANY guide for Laser pick-up adjustment? When placing normal CD into tray and pressing PLAY, CD PLayer cannot identify the content. CD Drive trying to read the disc and stops and returning 00:00 Tracks on the display. I wonder if this FAULT could be related to Laser sensitivity calibration and can be adjusted (tweeked) or is this some type of a problem related to internal IC's? Thank you in Advance.
Hardware issue: The CD player may have a hardware issue, such as a damaged laser or faulty electronics, that is preventing it from reading normal CDs.
Firmware issue: The CD player's firmware, which is the software that controls the device, may be outdated or corrupt, causing it to only read Super Audio CDs.
Compatibility issue: The CD player may not be compatible with normal CDs, and is only able to read Super Audio CDs due to their specialized format.
In terms of adjusting the laser pick-up, it is generally not recommended to try to adjust the laser pick-up yourself, as it can be a delicate process that requires specialized equipment and knowledge. If you believe the issue may be related to the laser pick-up or other hardware, it may be necessary to seek the assistance of a qualified technician or the manufacturer.
If the CD player is unable to read the content of a normal CD and is returning to 00:00 tracks on the display, it is possible that the issue may be related to the laser pick-up or other hardware. It is also possible that the issue may be related to internal ICs or other electronics, in which case it may be necessary to diagnose the issue further to determine the cause and find a solution.

Hello Linda, what brand is your DV3100, Marantz or Furrion?
In the same way it is possible that your player needs a cleaning of the Laser Pickup
Try playing a DVD, if you read it, the lens would supposedly be clean and you would have it under the infrared reader, in charge of reading the audio CDs or video CDs
I hope my comment has served you

But this marantz is new or used? BTW, it seems a laser focus issue.
If it's an old gear, maybe there's dust on the laser lens, that you can gently remove with a cotton fioc and compressed air like that for PC care. If the problem remains, laser group has to be replaced, because exausted.
When you say it doesn't read SACD's do you mean it doesn't put out 5.1? Keep in mind that you have select the SACD multichannel area and use the 5.1 analog outputs for that and NO digital output will be produced.
If you are attempting to burn mp3 files as an audio CD, then that's the problem. You cannot burn audio CDs from MP3 files. You have to burn MP3 files as
a data CD and not as an audio CD. See excerpt taken from page 33 in
the CDR420 user guide. "Prepares CDs that can be played on standard CD
players. Compact Disc Digital Audio (CDDA) uses uncompressed PCM, .wav
files. The CDR420 does not convert MP3 files to PCM so MP3 files are ignored if you choose AUDIO as the CD TYPE"
Make sure your playing componet like CD player have a digital output socket. Connect this to a digital port on the amp witk a single RCA or Optical cable if output available on CD. Make sure the digital assingment in amp is set for cd function and corresponding input(example cd plyer connected on dig 4 input on amp, press menu, setup, assignment, go to cd player, make sure setting on dig 4 or change input to dig 4, go to next component to memorise setting.and exit, see manual to assist you) if still no sound take dvd cable for instance that is working and put that in dig 4 port. if that works check in cd player that settings spdif/raw/pcm is correct one for yor digital output if still no sound soun pc board faulty.
these models use the 12.1 philips laser mechanism and it is a very common problem for failing to read discs.
various technics / marantz / philips / cyrus cd players etc also use it and are plagued with the same fault.
it's a 90% chance the laser is dead!
philips realised the unreliability of this laser and uprated it to the identical looking VAM-12.
do not dismiss the spindle motor as these also fail quite alot on this mechanism.
