What causes this blue tint on entire screen. Have attempted adjusting settings in accordance with Sony Owners manual. Could it be the LED backlight strips are going out?

Check that all cables are intact and plugged in correctly.
Turn of the TV completely. There might be a manual button on the tv for this. As the last thing, remove the power cord from the power outlet in the wall or where it is placed. Wait 1 min. Then put it back in, swith it on and turn on the TV again.
If this doesn't help and you have tried replacing the cable that you get the picture from (VGA, DVI, Antenna etc.) then it is most likely broken.
Hi,
Yellowish tint in picture shows that TV needs increase in blue gain because picture tube is bit weak in result.
If you are handy with electronics repair then let me know to guide you further.
You can try doing this, turn on the Tv and select the service menu, if that tint also shows on the menu, it's most probable to be your DMD board, but if it doesn't it might be the video board..
Sounds like a bad blue CRT (picture tube) ITs expensive and difficult to replace. CAll a Sony service center for an estimate. but expect to spend $500-700 to replace it.
Always try your extended warranty!.....Probable cause = bad red tube. One adjustment may help---turn down red screen control, located behind technician access panel in front of set.
first try going to the menu on the tv and adjusting the red blue and green tint....if not the u need to remove the front pannel and move the the the top left knob on the setting to lower the tint...
