Pioneer vsx 3000 plays fine, but the radio function hums
Hello,
If memory serves correct, the VSX-3000 is from the late 80's. They are good receivers from that era. From your description, it appears the tuner module could have issues, since only the AM/FM has a hum. If all other inputs sound well, it points the the tuner module. These modules are not easy to repair (PCB with SMD highly tuned parts), and are easiest and cheapest to replace. Many VSX models of that vintage use the same part. Not sure how easy it would be to find one. They are a small PCB enclosed mostly in a silver shielding, with one or two connectors from the inside and screwed to the back of the receiver, where the antena connection is.
Good luck
