I lost the charger cord for the battery charger of my sony camera

I lost it during a walk luckily i still have another one of the cords at my house and when i used it to charge my battery, it reads innacurately like when the battery reader says its 80-90 minutes shortly after it will say that the battery is about to die. yes the battery is old but it has never done this before i used another charger cable. can i use any cord for the battery charger or only the one supplied by sony?

Hi, I don't think the change in the charging cable caused the problem, the fact that the battery is old makes it prone to such issues.
It's always advised you use the cord that is supplied by the manufacturer or make a like-for-like change this ensures the device will perform optimally, having said that, I am not sure that a change in the charging cable would produce such an issue instantly.
That's why I insist that you may need to replace the battery or check if the battery works or behaves in the same manner in a different device before changing it.

Ok all mine had the same problem however problem has been solved! The power cord that plugs into the charger is a common cord you may have laying around the house. I switched the power cord to my charger and the dreaded blinking stopped! Its just a bad power cord to the charging unit! Hope this helps!

Charge

You need a separate battery charger for this camera. It does not have a battery charger built into the camera itself and can not be recharged thru any cords connected directly to the camera. The USB cords only transfer the files to the computer, they don't recharge the camera.

Cord

Does this charger have an AC cord that plugs into it with a 2-prong end on the cord. If so, you should be able to find the cord at most electronic stores like Radio Shack.

If not, you can buy a replacement charger on ebay or from Amazon.

Hi my son lost the power cord to charge the battery. Can we charge the camera through the computer? I have that cord. Thanks

You can find a replacement cord on eBay very cheap. Another thing to try is to buy an external charger. Just remove the battery and place it on the charger, very helpful also is to buy another battery from the same seller. You will never run out of power with a spare battery charged.
