Hello,
Sony 2008 Bravia Flat-screen TV
Model: KDL 46Z4100
Vertical lines that will sometimes resolve and show a picture again, although with residual lines present. Sound still comes through just fine.
Vertical lines are white, purple, blue, pink, yellow, black, brown.
Seems if inlet the TV run for a while the picture will show up... then go away again after 15 or 20 minutes.

Hi,
please run a channel scan on your tv before checking for the issue again. If the issue persists, please remove all accessories from the tv before restarting it. If necessary, you can then power cycle the tv. Otherwise, you can move onto running a factory reset on your Sony tv.

LOD (lines of death) are a known service issue with the Sony bravia line of TV's contact Sony and cross your fingers. Wish I had better news for you. I had a 52w4100 and Sony arranged me with a service center to get it taken care of.
Plasma has a problem that if you do not use it for even a short period, the liquid inside the layers of the screen will get hard because of cold , it needs to be running or in room temperature. so kindly get it repaired by a TV expert if that's the problem , then you have to buy a new plasma..
thanks for rating
Good luck
The tv board call the T-CON decoders board have problems, that why colors vertical lines are showing up in the tv LCD screen panel. The T-CON decoders board, this board sit wright at middle bottom of the tv LCD screen panel.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish T-CON decoders board for the replacement.
Unless it is spot on dead center of the set, you need to replace the LCD panel. In these models, the suspected TCON (time control) board might do the trick, but I've yet to have success with that board fixing a vertical line issue.
Hopefully you are still under manufacturer's warranty or have some kind of extended warranty, 'cause the price of that panel exceeds $1,500.00.
You could give a shout to Sony customer relations in the event you don't have a way to get the part paid for. Sony may ask that you pay for an estimate, in return for covering the part for you.
I'm afraid, its problem of LCD Panel (screen). LCD Panel replacement is only solution for this problem and will cost you 70% of TV price, please contact nearest Sony service center for LCD Panel replacement.
I assume that when you get the line you lose the picture, if so, you have vertical collapse, either a dry joint in the vertical section or capacitors or vertical I.C., I would doubt that the scan coil would be O/C as that is rare. if you can't do it yourself I suggest taking it to a repairer, as it should be an easy fix...Hope that helps...Phil
if the line is in the same place all the time im afraid to say that is a pixel problem on your display contact sony they may offer you a replacement display or altleast a way of changing the set.
