It face the same issue when i used batteries, (Now the battery can't power it on) hence i thought the DC power would be the solution. It was running fine initially, though there was some pitch issue initially...( i thought it was the belt) but i remove the belt completely and did a test without the belt, and the motor just slow down and power off after a few seconds.
When it stops see if voltage to motor if no bad battery if yes bad motor
