My Nikon Coolpix S220 will not turn on. What can be the problem?

-Battery fully charged and loaded -SD card loaded -When the power button is pressed, all it does it flash green and make a beep sound. -Blank LED screen -Lens does not open

It may be that the battery is worn out. It shows a charge in volts, but not enough milliamps to work the camera. Do you have spares?

If the camera was dropped and it does not turn on with a known GOOD battery the camera must have been damaged. When you dropped it the FIRST time and it worked you were lucky. Cameras do NOT like to be dropped.

Memory card is write protected on Nikon Coolpix S220

Remove your SD card from your camera and hold it so that the angled corner is in the upper left. Look on the right edge (side) of the card near the top. You will see a VERY small slide switch. When the switch is up, the write protect is disabled. When it is down it is enabled. If you make sure that write protect is disabled, the error should clear unless there is a malfunction in the camera.

My Nikon Coolpix S220 is taking photos that have multicoloured horizontal stripes all through them, completely ruining the image. Its not the SD card as it still does it when I take the card out.

I had the same problem and took it over to Nikon service center. They said it is a lens problem and fixed the same for around Rs.2000.

Please check the battery of the Nikon Coolpix 4100 Digital Camera. Please check the battery is fully charged or may be its damaged if its swollen. Also check the contact points of battery and camera and clean it. Insert the battery and charge it fully. When the battery gets charged fully then press the power button 4 to 5 times to start it. If the battery is damaged then replace the battery with new battery.

The S220 uses the EN-EL10 battery. The camera does NOT incorporate any charging circuitry, so connecting it to a computer actually drains the battery. In order to charge the battery, you need the MH-63 battery charger or a third-party equivalent.

If you need a charger, you can order one from your local Nikon dealer or from http://www.nikonmall.com

If you can get the pics using a card reader, why are you insisting on using the camera and USB cord? Pros always use a card reader.
