Acorn Stairlift armrest switch not working, what to do?

One armrest switch is working, the other stopped. I don't see any real way to remove the armrest to check anything. Can someone please provide some tips, on how to remove the armrest, how to fix the switch? Could just be an issue with a cable that snapped from putting armrest up and down all the time? These stairlifts are the worst ones to find anything on the internet about.

If one of the armrest switches on your Acorn Stairlift is not working, there are a few possible causes and solutions. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check the wiring: If the armrest switch is not working, it is possible that the wiring for the switch may have become loose or damaged. To access the wiring, you will need to remove the armrest. To do this, first remove the armrest cover by removing the screws that hold it in place. Then, carefully disconnect the wiring for the switch and check for any loose or damaged connections.
  2. Check the switch: If the wiring for the switch is in good condition, the problem may be with the switch itself. To access the switch, you will need to remove the armrest. Once the armrest is removed, you can test the switch with a multimeter to see if it is functioning properly. If the switch is faulty, it will need to be replaced.
  3. Contact Acorn Stairlifts: If you are unable to diagnose or repair the problem with the armrest switch, it is best to contact Acorn Stairlifts for assistance. They should be able to provide you with specific instructions and guidance for removing the armrest and repairing the switch.
I hope these steps help to resolve the issue with your Acorn Stairlift armrest switch. If you need further assistance, it is best to contact Acorn Stairlifts for support.

Acorn Superglide 120 Stairlift. The seat jumped an stalled at the mid point going down.

This appears to be a Stairlift as opposed to a 'Seat' vehicle issue. Seat is a Spanish car maker, so..... I edited the question for clarity and moved it from 'Seat' to 'Acorn Stairlifts'.

I would say it is possibly three things;

Your weight exceeds the safe working load.

Wear in the rollers on the chair.

Faulty manufacture or installation.

You need professional repair, new rollers and track section.

This model was also subject to a safety recall

The Acorn 120 stairlift or Superglide slimline model can be identified by their burgundy reddish color fabric upholstery on the seat.

Good morningI have a problem with this stairlift, i probably it should be programmed know the procedure? The electronic board has no switch is the T565 model. O

Hello, Ale112002 -

I hope I am correct in thinking your stair lift is an Acorn model 180.

This is the link to the Acorn 180 user manual (PDF format, Adobe Acrobat Reader software needed - free);
https://fccid.io/2AFDQACORN180REMOTE/User-Manual/Users-Manual-2699943
It looks like a key is needed to turn the unit on and off. The switch for moving up or down is on the right side arm. Is that what you are asking about?

If my reply does not answer your question, I suggest you contact the Acorn dealer nearest where you reside and ask your question.

Best wishes.

Acorn 120 Lift only goes down and not back up

It sounds to me that you have a cable break somewhere between the armrest controls and the electronics below the seat. I am assuming this is the case as you did not mention a problem with the remote control (if this one has that). If you have a remote control, and neither the armrest or remote work, then the problem is very likely in the motor control electronics.

We really don't keep track of this, you need to contact the maker of the product about any recalls.

Acorn toggle swtich keeps breaking

Replace it with a heavier duty one or stop being so heavy handed; it only needs a light tough, and it won't go any faster if you press it harder! Oh and don't pay the ridiculous prices asked by repairers. Is it spring loaded or just on/off? You cn get a replacement switch from an auction site for about a sixth of the price.
Also why is it breaking off, is it hitting something on the way? If you've had it replaced previously call them back?
