The Panasonic TDA-50g comes out of the box with one ringing phone, extension 101. All the other phones light a solid red light when 101 rings. Is that what your system is doing?
Unless you have access to programming or a Maintenance Console and have intimate knowledge of system programs 623 and 624, you need to let your installer or dealer program ICD groups.
That programming is beyond the scope of a free forum.
2 ways to clear this (most likely someone tried to intercom you and pressed the message button on accident instead of hanging up):
way #1: 1) press the "MESSAGE" button 2) on the screen it will display who turned on your message light 3) press the "CLEAR" button (third button from the left directly under the screen)
way #2: 1) press "INTERCOM" 2) dial " *700 " then your extension number (you will hear a confirmation tone) 3) hang up
If you have a PTPM or the maintenance console, you can program ringing. It's a dealer only product in the U.S. Incoming calls are made to ring ICD (incoming call distribution) groups where the ringing is controlled per extension. In our version, even the manager does not have access to that level of system programming.
This will be a two step answer. Walk to any other extension and dial *701 plus the extension that doesn't work. If it lights the message waiting lamp (of course it will), then please look for your voice mail system cabinet. It may be black, with a dark blue cover the same as the TDA phone system. Part numbers would be TVA-50 or TVA-100.
If all of the above is true, you need to do some notification programming in the voice mail system. Do you have the programming software if it's a TVA?
