My Sharp xe-a506 register will not power on. Checked the power source and nothing.

Completely dead like it is not plugged in. I have two of the same machines. This one has sat for a while but always turned on once the power bar was engaged. Now nothing. Please Help.

If your Sharp XE-A506 register will not power on, there are a few possible reasons why this may be happening. Usually a faulty battery. Some model shave AA batteries at the back of the printer but this probably has an internal battery that should be replaced by a technician.

Shap xe-a506 does an overlimit on all my payouts, how do i fix this?
It is a bit difficult to understand the actual operation you may be performing on the calculator. I am assuming you refer to change return amount after a transaction is finalised.

The example on page 13 provides the steps to follow when customer pays more than the value of the transaction and is due for receiving some change.
Also refer to page 21 on ways of finalising a transaction.
It might be worth doing a daily sales report to check if the system is keeping track of all the cash received and the change provided. If this is correct then check the programming of the transaction finalisation key.

Sharp xe-a506 cash register wont print after paper change
If you see "HEAD UP" or "PAPER EMPTY" on display, make sure the head lever on the side of the printer is locked in closed position and press CL (clear) button.
If the paper is feeding out blank, make sure you have the shiny side of the paper facing the front of the machine - if no shiny side to paper, you have wrong paper.
If that doesn't fix it, please let me know which side is having the trouble (receipt or journal) and whether the paper is feeding or if you have an error message.

I cannot connect my sharp xe-a506 cash register to my computer. my computer's OS is windows 7 (64 bit) and i cannot find a driver for the cash register.

It took me a while to find the Windows 7 64-bit driver for the XE-A506, but apparently it is located under the XE-A406 version. Eventually, this one worked for me: but don't forget to run the program as administrator (properties - compatibility - "Run this program as an administrator").

By the way, the manual was a bit unclear on how to install the drivers (for me at least). This is the whole process that actually got it working in my case:

  • Go to "Devices and Printers"
  • Right-click the device under Unspecified - select "Properties"
  • Select the "Hardware" tab
  • Open "Properties"
  • In the "General" tab, select "Change Settings"
  • Select the "Driver" tab
  • Here the option for "Update Driver..." should be available, open it
  • Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
  • Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
  • Press "Have Disk" (sometimes this option isn't immediately available, first press "Next" in that case)
  • Select "Browse"
  • Head to the location where the driver (*.inf) is downloaded, something like "Downloads\SHARP XE-A406_A506 SOFTWARE - 64bit\Sharp XE-A406_A506\Setup\program files\SHARP ECR TOOL\XE-A406506 Customer Support Tool\Driver\Win64" and select it
  • Press "Open"
  • Press "OK"
  • Press "Next". The driver should now install.
And again, don't forgot to Run as Administrator when starting the software: without this, I still couldn't upload data to the device.

My Sharp XE-102 Cash Register seems to be dead. It won't do anything. What should I try first?
Try removing the batteries, then turn key to REG mode. Turn power off at wall for 30 mins, then on again, then put batteries in. If still dead, then main board failure is the most common reason. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
