How can I replace or repair the small hose that is split connecting the brush roll case and the vacuum itself. It does disconnect to the main body of the vacuum. can the hose be replaced?

get an exploded parts diagram of your machine. if the hose (part) is listed separately, then a replacement should be available from the manufacturer. otherwise you may need to take the vacuum in for service from a dealer shop. More than likely, if it is NOT warranty work, it will be less expensive to replace the item.

I need a hose for a Kenmore vacuum. The serial number I found is D80501276 and model numder is 116. Another number on the bottom is 2841080. Where can I get these? Claire Salter

Go to the Sears appliance center. They should have parts for vacuums at least up to 10 years old.

Sometimes vacuum cleaner repair shops have hoses that are used that may work. Check in your community.

Cleaning brushes don't rotate during cleaning!

Cleaning brushes don't rotate during cleaning!
It might be a clogged vacuum hose. Does anyone know its whereabouts?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The best way to tell if the vacuum hose is clogged is to take a round ball, marble or steel ball or a nut & bolt assm that is about the same size as the vacuum hose opening & drop it or run it thru the vacuum hose and if it comes out the other end the hose is not clogged. If you have a braided hose (cloth on the outside and black rubber in the inside) the inside black rubber or inside of the hose brakes down and starts to leak and the air moving thru the hose will escape thru the hose and reduce suction. Also make sure the suction release valve is closed as well. There are some vacuums that use a braided hose and the only fix to that problem is to replace the hose. Feel free to check with you local vacuum dealer in the yellow pages or call the factory listed below:
If it is a braided hose from Electrolux the phone number is:
