Can I fix the internal clock on my Campark T45 game camera? It runs way too fast so the calendar stamp is always way off. Would this be a firmware issue?

Hi.

I am listing this tip for the Nikon Coolpix 995, but the tip is valid for all Nikon Coolpix models.

The Nikon cool pix settings are saved into an internal memory.

The internal memory is maintained by an internal rechargeable battery, that is recharged from the main Li-Ion battery.

If you leave your Nikon overnight with no main battery, or if the Li-Ion batteries have drained, then the internal battery will also drain , resetting the clock and other settings, saved on the internal memory. The camera may even drain in about 6 hours depending on the camera, normally it takes at least 12 hrs to drain the clock battery.

If the internal battery is resetting immediately, after you set the clock, or just after few minutes, then the clock battery must be replaced.

The camera must be disassembled completely to replace the battery located on one of the two main internal boards.



Nikon says that the clock battery loosing charge is normal. I quote what they say on the publication titled " The Nikon Guide to digital photography with Coolpix"

"…Backup battery of the clock
The clock-calendar is powered by a separate rechargeable battery, which is charged as necessary when the main battery is installed. If the camera has been stored with the main battery removed for a long period of time, the clock may need to be reset. Once the main battery has been reinserted, the clock battery will recharge in several hours, during which time the main battery should be left in the camera."Original file: Download here


If the clock does not work at all, and is resetting immediately, even though the Li-Ion batteries are fully charged, then the best thing to do is calling Nikon, at the number listed on the owners manual, telling them that you did not do any improper use of the camera, and trying to get the fault repaired as factory defect. That is not always possible, and the decision depends on Nikon customer service.

My outlook calendar and emails are in sinc with the blackberry. However, the clock and the time stamps for my calendar are not inline. the time stamp on my email and calendar is about 3 hours off.
the region has to be set on one of them so the time will be right on both. like they both have to set to one time zone

Check the timezone if it is right. Timezone must base were you live. For example, if I live in Hongkong, this is my correct timezone - (UTC+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi. Check also if the the settings of your date and time is set to windows. If it set to windows then the timezone is set to US then you live in Hongkong your date and time will always adjust to the time of US even if you always adjust your date and time to Hongkong. I hope my explanation is clear to you. =)

Is there an internal battery for the time and the date?
Manual says: "After installing the batteries, the set-time/date message may appear on the monitor. The clock and calendar are set in section 3 of the setup menu (p. 18)."

In fact if you replace batteries really fast (in a minute or two) and time is reset the internal battery is probably exhausted/broken. You have to decide if it is worth of repairing.

My Z1 has 6 years and the clock does't forget time. Maybe next time i'll be surprised...

I have the Logitech Harmony 880 and need the current calendar year and time to reflect appropriately. Currently, the calendar year is only displaying 2009.
Make sure that you have stepped through the entire process of setting the current date and time using the Systems Option menu on the remote. Note that it appears that some firmware updates leave you with an option to select AM or PM hours from the System Options-->Set Time. However, the most recent firmware update seems to have removed this ability, so only a 12hr clock is shown, and there is no option to set AM or PM. The clock will always default to AM. So, one workaround is to simply set the time before noon! Also, the remote will pick up the correct date and time when connected to the computer (assuming your system clock is correct) and you update the remote. Hope this helps!
