RGV2-485GDN - DCS Fisher Paykel gas oven on range will not reach high temperature
Hi there,
I would love to get a service manual for this range. I am relatively competent with appliances but I am stumped on this one.
The basic problem is the oven will not hit a high temperature when it is called for. The igniter will go on and off but not stay on to trigger the gas to flow. The knobs on these indicate white when they are supposed to be heating and this does that but stays there.
Here is what I have done. I replaced the igniter with new Fisher Paykel parts. I put in a new dual gas valve. I swapped the circuit board from the small oven side that was working to the large oven side.
I did not see a cut off or cut out switch located on the parts manual. I don't understand why it won't get to temperature. Generally it will work fine around 350 f. But not reach 450 f.
Any ideas what I might be missing?
Thanks for anyones time.
Matt

This type of problem normally can be ascribed to a defective thermostat. Unfortunately there is no test for a thermostat, it has to be replaced to see if the problem has been sorted out.
One thing you can do is remove the thermostat bulb from the oven and place place it in a position where it will not heat up. Place an oven thermometer in the oven. Switch on and see of the temperature climbs above what you wee seeing before. This is a very much hands on test as you have no control over the temperature that the elements can get to. As soon as you see the temperature reach a point above that seen before, shut down immediately.

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.
the power runs through the clock then to the oven so delayed cooking can be set, toy have one of two options easiest is to by pass the clock, the second is to replace clock
hELLO THERE: on these ovens the f-3 can sometime be incorporated with the f-4 error code also so here is the code and the things to look for both ok ?

Open
oven temperature
sensor (circuit) (over 2700 ohms) or, shorted oven
temperature
sensor. Could be a result of: ·
contamination
on terminals ·
pinched
wire in oven temperature sensor circuit ·
cold
solder joint on control.
·
Disconnect
power to range
and remove oven temperature sensor connector from
control. · Measure
oven temperature sensor resistance at oven
temperature sensor
connector (take care not to damage terminals in
block) - Should
read 1100 ohms at room temperature (approx 72
degrees F). · Measure each oven
temperature
sensor lead from connector block to ground. If
shorted, look
for pinched or cut wire in oven temperature sensor
circuit. · Check connector
terminals -
Look for deformed or corrosion on terminals. Repair
or replace.
If all above is ok replace control.
