My Marantz SR6003 doesn't work with optical anymore. How come?

I've plugged the optical cable in my Xbox, my television and etc... but for an unknown reason the receiver doesn't output any sound and all the digital out ports at the back don't work. The receiver tries to detect the digital signal but won't output sound, no matter what I tried to do. Is there any settings or anything I could possibly change? Im getting kinda frustrated.

I'm an authorized service center for Marantz although I mainly work on vintage equipment, according to the manual the code your getting is for speaker impedance imbalance , but if you don't have speakers hooked to it then you have issues with one of the channels output stages, it may not be something you can fix yourself unless you have some fairly advanced electronic skills

I do not know the answer but I would check to be sure there is nothing on top of it and that it has adequate ventilation. Try pointing a room fan at it and see if the problem goes away. If not you may wnat to contact there service as it sounds like it is either overheating or failing.

we have replaced our optical block and the lamp twice-first time it exploded inside the tv? now the tv doesn\'t work for cable but we can use the piss poor cloudy optical block again using hd antenna or thru xbox internet - this tv is GARBAGE end of story! I will NEVER purchase a SONY product ever again - they are basically all the same like our Food industry they just slap some other company name on the final product - we were ripped off bad for this tv paid 3,000 piece of garbage!!!

HDCP is the "handshake" protocol used by the Xbox to communicate via HDMI to your TV. The optical cable wouldn't have anything to do with this error. So far the only solution that's been found to this issue is to ensure that the HDMI cable is properly plugged in and power off/on both devices and see if the handshake is restored. If this doesn't work you may need a new HDMI cable.

If you just bought the PS3 use your composite cables that came with the system. Turn the PS3 on and go to the video settings, set up video input to HDMI. After you've done that plug your HDMI back into your PS3 and try turning it on. If that works go back to video settings and change the resolution to 1080p. If that doesn't work make sure your T.V. is on the same input that the HDMI cable is plugged in. If it is and still doesn't work try switching to a different HDMI port. If switching to a different HDMI port doesn't work try a new HDMI cable. If the new HDMI cable doesn't work then there is a problem with the port on the PS3 which would require a repair.

The Sr 6003 is not HDMI version 1.3a. and, it's not upgradeable via a software patch. What has everyone up in arms over this issue is that it's "HDMI"'s fault not your manufacturer. All AV receivers pre 2008-09 have 1.2 or 1.1 which does not work. The problem is what's called HDCP compliant. It's the movie and dvd makers crying about copyright protection. All you can do is to run HDMI direct from your DVD, Cable Box, etc. to the TV, then run Digital Coaxial or Optical to your receiver for audio. I know this is NOT what you want to hear! sorry!. For some reason you can only have the component leads with optical cable, if you put hdmi cable in there is no connection for the opticle cable out.
