I have a Hotpoint Aquarius Extra 1200 Spin WD64. It still works as it should except for an almighty noise on the final fast spin.

I have taken the back off and found a mystery piece of sheared off metal with fittings. I cannot figure out where it has come from. The drum seems secure and no sign of anything wrong!?

Could you be a bit more specific as to what this "Almighty noise" is? It will help to work out where the issue actually is. Is it a thumping noise? A rattling noise? a grinding noise? A humming noise? Can you post images of the sheared off piece of metal?

Testimonial: "Have since found major problem so sadly I think it's terminal. The plastic drum outer has a big split in it. Thank you so much for your help. I only hope I can find a replacement on Freecycle!"

Have you checked the filter if fitted? Sometimes washing machines will not spin if they're not empty.

Hotpoint Aquarius Extra washer dryer WD64 will not drain water. Spin works ok.

Was it working before? You may have a blocked outlet hose. Try taking it off under the sink to look for a blockage. You could also try getting some water in from that end with another hose to see if it comes out into the machine. If it is not a blocked hose, then the pump may be faulty.

Dryer does not work drum rotates but does not dry on hotpoint aquarius washer dryer model wd64. all other functions operate ok

Probably open circuit heater element, or thermostat/s
Remove top cover, and you will see the heater manifold on the top of the drum.
It is a long aluminium box.
The element and stats are located here..
You will need a meter to test the appropiate components for continuity.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Hotpoint WD64 is not spinning or emptying

check the pump, make sure drain hose is not cloghed, ensure the belt is in the place, spin the drum a bit by pulling the belt. then give it a go.

Started having a noisy rinse & spin cycle, then stopped.

Open the washer door and spin the drum by hand, if it feels rough or noisy and rumbling, then the main drum bearings have failed. There should be little or no noise when you spin drum
This is a major repair, and I would not recommend a D.I.Y solution.
Other possibility is there is something in the pump, but you would only hear this when the pump is working.

Plz rate my comments.
Thanks.

Ref Hotpoint - aquarius extra - WD64 Washer trips the electric just before the end of the wash cycle. Fault always happen at the same point. If manualy turn nob (on to dry) before end of the wash cycle...

I had this problem. It is not to do with the switch.
The point at which it trips, will be when the spin starts to get fast.

There is a design flaw - and this is particularly easy to see in the dark, as you can see the spark!

The bundle of wires that links to the end of the motor rubs against the motor mount, and one or more wires break through the rubber insulation shorting whenever the drum and motor start bouncing around. Find the break, and use a stack of insulation tape to re-insulate - better still, get a professional to replace the wire.

That worked instantly for me, and have no other problems since.
