Question about Admiral Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have an Admiral ATW4475XQ0 washing machine and the agitator doesn't feel like it's agitating with full force.

It doesn't make any loud noise or unnormal noise, it's just not agitating at 100%. I've taken it apart and checked the thrust spacer, as well as the agitator dogs, and all of that is fine. What could it be?

Hi,

Please double check that you're accounting for the weight of the clothes in the washer. Lighter clothes should produce a lower sound and heavier loads should be much louder. If possible, you can add some oil around the rotating portion of the machine in order to lower friction.

Thank you.

Welcome back, we missed you yesterday. You lost about 8 posts tonight, 'battery too powerful', use of 'cooking oil' for non cooking, plus unhelpful post that I answered in full without sending people off site.

Load squeal when it in the agitation cycle.

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

The seal has cracked and will need to be replaced. Part of it is in the drive block attached to the basket and is probably your failure. All you need to remove is the maytag tool and a strong arm.

My Capacity Plus Admiral Washer will spin and agitate, but it makes a loud grinding noise.

Well, Sounds to me like the Bearings are going out, but it could make that noise a good while, before it goes completely out.. Replacement would possably be more cost effective, Kinda hard to beleive !!!!!!

Loud noise while agitating in wash cycle

If you begin dissassembly from the tub down, you wil come to the transmission with the spindle sticking out of it. If you undo the bendable tabs all around the transmission it comes apart in two halves. Careful, its full of oil. The spindle has a plastic gear bolted to the bottom of it. It meshes with other gears in the tranny. It has sheered teath and is making the noise.
