Hi,

it's sounds like a group of the screens leds have overheated and/or burned out. If you just got the tv, this would be strange. However if you've owned it for years, then this might happen. Please attempt one power cycle and then flip through channels to see if the issue remains.

If so, you might need to set a tv diagnostic-appointment with a company like geeksquad/ home depot after attempting a factory reset on the tv.

Thank you.

My son threw a golf ball at our Sanyo LCD - 42" -

I assume you meant the screen is now broken.
Some things to consider:

1. Replace the son with one who does not throw golf balls in the house. Ha ha! [jk]
2. Check to see if the warranty (usually online if you don't have the original paperwork) covers screen breakage, or ask the store where you bought the tv if there is anything they can do.
3. If the warranty is a no-go, contact the tv manufacturer and see why they may do... what the cost would be to repair etc. Some screens are covered in case they crack, but it is probably obvious it wasn't a manufacturer's defect if a golf ball hit it.
4. If those steps don't work out, check videos or info online to see if this is a job you or a techie could do - (in last case scenario).
5. If none of these check out, sadly, you might be left with a very large, expensive doorstop.
:-(
Good luck.

Hello I connected my computer to the TV sanyo to watch some videos and movies by a parallel cable, then disconnect my laptop and go back to tv, appears to me, "FFFF" in red in the middle of the screen and...

This also happened to me. FFFF displayed in red in center of screen and ageing time 180 also displayed.
What has happenend as I have discovered is your TV has entered the factory test mode.
You need to reset your television.
This can be done by pressing and holding the menu button on the side of the television and pressing the info button on your remote control.
Scroll down the menu options that appear onscreen and select reset.
click ok
Tv will shut down and restart. Note all channels will automatically re scan then you should not have this problem any more.
Hope this helps

Smudge looking marks onscreen

If you suddenly noticed it, this is most likely caused by a large piece of dust on the lens. It is hard to clean, you would need to take the whole TV apart in order to get to the lens (mounted on the optical block).

It could also be caused by a failure of the optical block, which had inherent issues. There is a pending class action law suit against Sony for problems with optical block that include smudges, hazes, and tints that appear after a certain number of hours.

Other causes could be a dirty portion of the mirror or a smudge on the inside part of the screen but these are rare because dust and contaminants do not usually accumulate on these parts of the TV.
