I replaced the motherboard and hard drive. Push the power button. Upon start up I receive a message ; no bookable disc. Keyboard is non responsive. So I can't enter bios to set disc startup order. Wondering if it's a bad keyboard.? Or what?

The BIOS is reading that you have no start up data in the systeam. You will need a set of windows with the code when you put the disk in then power up computer it should start asking questions Good Luck Mike L.

No bootable device suggests that your Acer Aspire hard disk may have been damaged when the computer was dropped. You should try opening the cover on the base of the laptop where the hard drive is fitted and check to make sure that the drive is seated firmly and has not come loose with the drop. See the Acer Aspire 5253 Quick Start Guide for the location of the drive cover. If reseating the drive does not help, then you would need to find any recovery discs that you may have made or received with the laptop plus need to buy and install a replacement hard drive.
Usually when a computer displays a "Media Test Failure" message, it is a good indicator that the hard drive is/has failed. The solution would be to replace the hard drive in the laptop.
Please check to see that the LED light on the motherboard is lighting up. Also, if the BIOS appears on the monitor, please make sure that the hard drives are properly connected and that you can hear then spinning and/or see the Hard Drive LED light up. It sounds as if your motherboard is receiving power, but something else is not. Please also make sure that your processor's heat sink is properly seated and secure.
With the first recovery disc in in the drive, and starting from a powered off machine, press the power button and then press quickly and repeatedly on the F12 key. The boot menu should appear. When it does, make sure that CD/DVD/Optical whatever drive is highlighted. If it's not, use the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight it. When it's highlighted, hit the enter key.
The second you see a white message on a black screen that says...."Press any key to boot from CD" hit a key and begin to follow all the prompts.
hey... to install XP to the hard drive, u need to restart the PC with XP CD in the Drive... When the computer starts up you'll need to press F10 or F12 to bring up the boot menu (it depends upon ur motherboard type).. select boot from CD n follow the instructions....

Can't enter bios at all. No response to keyboard
I've checked the keyboard ribbon. Looks ok. Look like it's seated properly.
