It is normal that people remove hard drives or reformat (scrub clean) the hard drive on secondhand computers. Open up the case and look for a hard drive. Then you will either need to fit one and / or buy a copy of Windows XP (virus magnet) operating system from Sony for that model. It is an old Pentium 4, so the best course of action would be to take it to your local waste disposal centre for recycling!

You must firstly install an operating system, assuming there is a hard drive/ssd fitted.
If no hdd fit an hdd and then place an operating system on it.

I have a SONY PCV-RX660. I had the computer disconnected from all power sources for an extended period of time. Tried to start it up yesterday and the computer will not start....no problems with speakers...

Usually there is a switch on the back of the power supply that turns the supply on or off. Make sure it is turned on. Try using a different 3-prong cord between computer and outlet.

Computer turns on, but does not boot to XP

Generally, fans are controlled by heat readings...something to check is the operating temperature that is shown in your BIOS when you boot up...(access your BIOS by tapping on the delete key, or F2 key while booting)..if it goes over 70C real quick then there is a CPU heat dissipation problem, which would cause the fan to run like this i think that it is more of an issue that your CPU died...has your machine taken any kind of hit or fall that might have loosened things?...or perhaps the heat sink compound between the heatsink and CPU failed.....
but it also could be a dead MB
