The BT3000 actually has TWO v-belts! Here's a link at the end of this solution to an exploded diagram. Basically you have a major disassembly, but it really isn't that complicated

Remove the motor. There will be two plastic "screw slot" plugs in the sides of the motor case. When you have the new brush assemblies, remove the old brushes one at a time and install the new unit in the same orientation that the old one came out (VERY important). Reinstall the motor and fire it up!

Jim, you need the starter/run capacitor assembly.

There is an overload protection breaker on the bottom left. Check it and the power switch with a meter to make sure they work.
