This color washout happened quickly. Now colors are much, much lighter. This is not an issue with contrast/brightness settings, etc. Issue occurs when input signal is through both HDMI ports have not tried any other inputs. Otherwise TV works fine. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello, it's one of two things, the main board has gone bad (part # DUNTKD934FM04-V2), or the panel has gone bad (rare, but I have seen it a couple of times). Google the part number and see how cheap you can find one., a set that age you don't want to tie up $150-$200 in a main board. Thanks Techman 57
Thanks, Techman 57, I really appreciate it!! It wouldn't be worth fixing at that price. Could it also be the Tcon board? I've read that could contribute to this also.
Hello, a washed out issue is 95% a main board problem on these sets. TV PARTS TODAY have that board for $31.24. Thanks Techman 57
I agree with Terry, high failure of main board causing color issues on both the 42 and 50 inch sets with D62U after panel size , you can try a tcon as it will be much cheaper but I doubt it will fix it.
