This is a bit tricky, but try it

remove the toner cart and lower the top cover about 1/2 way. Look inside and you will see 2 grey rollers hanging from the top on 2 arms. Move the right side arm to the right and grey rollers will fall out (they are as wide as a sheet of paper)
use a light scrubbing with a damp cloth to remove the grey, the rubber should be a tan colour. Dry them off well, insert the left side first (cover in the 1/2 closed position makes moving that right arm easy. install the toner cart again and print a page. It should be nice and dark now, just make sure the rollers are dry when you reinstall them.

Turn the unit off. Remove the cartridge and shake it back and forth. Ten place it and turn the unit back on. Also you can reset the counter on the cartridge, go to UNI KIT and look under Brother TN 110 refill support. These people sell refills. The ink you get with he printer is minimal. Also turning the printer off and back on will help with resetting. I found that there is plenty of toner left when the warning comes on.

Check the print quality setting on your computer when printing from printing preferences try quality. Also optionally you may want to consider reinstalling the driver,s and uninstalling the printer completely first, as this will restore it to defaul settings.

Normally to fix a printer that is printing gibberish, uninstalling and reinstalling the print drivers will fix this issue. Another thing that can contribute to gibberish print is using a USB cable that is too long.

With this particular problem (prints Zen), one solve is to uninstall any Dell toner management software. This is particularly true if you are running Vista and hooked up by USB. To uninstall the toner management software (Vista OS), go to control panel>programs>programs and feature>uninstall a program. From this list choose Dell software, choose a customized uninstall, and then choose anything that has to do with Dell toner management.

Sounds like you should first try the toner cartridge. Make sure you shake it and reseat it in the unit. Print a report. Data Reg., Report

It sounds like the toner is getting low. Take out the toner cartridge and rock it back and forth a few times to redistribute the toner evenly in the cartridge. If this makes the printouts look better, you should order another cartridge, as this one is getting low. I'm not sure about the L-100, but the toner cartridge for the L-120 fax is good for about 2,000 copies.

You just might have a faulty black toner cartridge think back did the problem arise when you installed the new black cartridge. Also is the toner a original if not change for a original.

Sometimes when toner starts to get low prints will faed or not print on sides. Make sure the printer is on a very level surface. Remove the toners and shake lightly left to right and reinstall.
