USB FLASH DRIVE SHOWING IN PC, BUT TRY TO ACCESS IT KEEPS ON BOOTING CONTINUESLY

Hello everyone. I have an issue with my flash drive. But it all started when my PC shuts down due to power outage and my battery is not that good while the flash drive was inserted into the pc. Later on, I plugged the flash drive and it appears in the pc, but when I click on it to open my contents it keeps on booting continuesly to no avail. I repeated the process several times but same thing keeps on happening. Sadly, I cannot format it as whenever I click on it, it keeps on booting, and an error message appears at the end showing insert a disc on the flash drive. Please help.

Hi,

Please attempt to access the flash drive through another account on your computer and check if the issue persists. If this does not work, then you might attempt to access the flash drive on another computer as well. Thank you.

Ze5170 not showing usb flash as boot option

1. The PC has to support booting from a USB flash/pen/key drive. There may be anywhere from 0-3 items to change in the BIOS to make this possible assuming your BIOS supports it. Some older bios's may refer to your flash drive as a USB floppy or USB zip.
2. The USB flash drive must support booting from it in general.
3. The flash drive must contain the boot/system files.
4. The flash drive must have bootsector area. This is done with special utilities.
5. References to "A:" drive lines in the autoexec.bat and/or config.sys files you copy to the drive after you make it bootable may result in errors.
6. There are several programs available if you do a Google search that will help you make your USB Flash Drive bootable as well.

SanDisk Cruzer Blade is not showing data. The drive shows up in 'My Computer' but data is not showing.

try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it (use quick format) and then use this program to recover your files.

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Kindly try this solution:
  • Connect the USB stick to another computer and copy all the data.
  • Download this file (click here) to that PC and format the USB stick using this program.
  • Now try to connect the USB stick to your ACER laptop and see if it works.

I have a netbook that has crashed on me. I have tried to reboot from a USB flash drive but it keeps saying "LBA not available" & "CHS not available". Does anyone know how to get...

see if there are some BIOS updates that the non booting laptop can get. This sounds like a BIOS issue since the USB works just fine on another laptop. Also, you may want to check for the BIOS bootup settings, and enable USB booting and also see for any auto-detection rules in BIOS that are stopping the USB key from being registered properly.

You would access it from My Computer like your normal harddrive. Note if the removable drive is showing up in My Computer then this is a sign that another device is already been assigned to the drive your USB drive wants by default. The links below will help you assign a drive letter to the USB drive.

File allocation showing 64.0GB, Not formating

If you inspect the Flash drive, you will see a little sliding switch on it. Slide the switch to the other side. Now, try inserting the Flash Drive and you will have write access.

Unable to format the cruser pendrive

Far too often these little things have an almost invisible read/write protect button on them. Look carefully, over the entire surface of the USB Flash Drive. You might have this switch turned to Write Protect, which means there is nothing you can do, until you turn it the other way, and allow the device to be written to.

Cheers!

Acer aspire 1 will not load XP

If this a new drive you need to prepare it using a hard drive utility before windows will recognise it. The drive manufacturer may provide this for you. Maxblast is one such program as is Datalifeguard from Western Digital.

INSTALLATION

Hello,

I don't think this is possible. Still we can work on this.

Even I am verymuch Intersted with these kind of issues. I haven't tried installing XP on USB flash drive. But I installed the XP on USB harddrive and it worked.

We can try this with your co-operation. To boot with the USB devices, first your computer or laptop should have the option to boot with the USB devices. You can check in BIOS, under BOOT order for this option.

If USB boot option is not there, then you cannot boot with the Flash drive, not only flash drive all USB devices. They will work only after booting into Windows.

Comming to installation procedure, installtion is same as installing the XP on harddrive. While installing the XP, at partition page, you can see the USB flash drive, select it and continue the installtion.

If your computer has the option to boot with the USB devices and if the flash drive won't boot into Windows after installtion, then we have to set Flash drive as Active partition from Disk Management, and then we can try. In Disk Management, right click on the USB drive and select set active partition. If it won't allow to set the USb flash drive as active, then it is not possible to install XP on flash drive.

Even I googled everywhere on how to do this, but not information.
Try that and let me know the status. But I am sure, it is possible on Pocket drivers or USB harddrives.
